24. A 35-year-old primigravid woman at 20 weeks'

gestation comes to

the physician because of vaginal pressure and a

watery, pink vaginal

discharge for 1 day. Her temperature is 37.5 C (99.5

F). The uterus is

palpated at the umbilicus. Fetal heart rate is

140/min. Speculum

examination shows that the upper vagina is filled with

bulging, shiny,

smooth membranes. The cervix cannot be palpated.

Which of the following is

the most likely mechanism for these findings?

A

) Abruptio placentae

B

) Cervical incompetence

C

) Premature labor

D

) Uterine anomaly

E

) Uterine infection

b or c?

I'd go for b cervical incompetence. 20 weeks is too early to deem it as preterm labour plus s/o cervical dilation are necessary to lable it as preterm. Looks more like cervical incompetence to me

Yes B.
No sign and symptom of preterm labour i.e Uterine contraction at least 3/30minute and cervical changes.

B: Os incompetence

No signs of uterine contractions

Does Cervical incompetence explain pink watery vaginal discharge?
