Initial approach of a Solitary thyroid nodule ?

US or FNA ???

which is it ?

FNA is Dx a tx at the same time

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

it depends patient is euthyroid or hyperthyroid

usual approach id FNA in patient who is euthyroid,i.e, no sign symptom of hyperthyroid

but if patient showind sign and symptoms of hyperthyroidism ,then approach to solitary nodule is to do TSH first ,followed by nuclear scan,to see wether whole gland is source or just nodule source of hyperthyroidism
