Thank you, target, usmlekiller and karime.

I have been watching the videos. They are slow. But here and there, they can throw a couple of good points. Considering my low performence in those categories, I will do whatever I can to improve. So I will stick to finishing those videos in two weeks.

To prevent forgetting all the other stuff, I did one Kaplan Qbank block every day. I had a look at scores from the past 5 or 6 blocks. I am really surprised that I averaged about 77% for the last 6 blocks. Right now, accumulative is about 72%. It is kind of funny because I think there are around 20 Qs in each block about which I am not very sure. One thing I did find out is that it is usually not worth to spend more than 1.5-2 min on each of those unsure questions. I have this habbit of finishing all the Qs at once and check them briefly in the end. So I used to put quite some time into those unsure ones. But more time does not translate into more right answers. It may be better to just make a guess and mark it and move on. And I will also learn not to let those early marked questions to get my nerves. Sometimes I marked too many in the beginning of the block, I felt so bad. It will affect my later performance in that block.

Gosh, time flies. I have 30 days to the test and tons to do on my list. I hope I can have a productive month. I have watched to many olympic games and I will have to do some serious shopping for my baby. Life is so much busier than before, but also happiernodnodnod

I thought it may be a time to summarize some of the test-taking techniques or some homemade tips. Just my own personal experience, not from other "authorized" sources. Join the discussion and add your only advice, if you wish.

1. Read the last sentence carefully, extra carefully, extra extra carefully.

2. Don't spend too much time on those "difficult" Qs, more time does not always equal higher chance of success. It is usually not worth doing that.

3. If you marked too many questions in the beginning, do not panic. You marked it does not means you got it wrong. Additionally, if you marked a lot in the beginning, chances are you are going to have a easier later half. You need to stay calm to get those right.

4. Move as quickly as possible to have a good 10-15 minutes to review. This will give your some time to address some potential mistakes and some rest needed for later blocks.

5. Do not be a perfectionist and do not keep judging how well you have done so far. No matter hoiw good you are, you will encounter lots of Qs that is either unheard of or you just cannot recall. Stay calm and positive. One Q at a time and stay in the moment, try not to judge.

6. If it is really long question stem and you don't have enough time left, try to read the last sentence first.

7. If it is a difficult long question, you don't know what the heck they are asking. Calm down, get those flashy key words in the stem, use them to simplify your thinking process. If something jumps out, great, go with it. If nothing happens, make a guess, mark it and move on.

that's it for now. Cannot think of any other points. Happy studying, every one.

Thank you friends, target, usmlekiller, simon and AD.

I did one more block last night, 68%. My scores in Kaplan are not consistent at all. Anyways, it is not that important. I cannot help but watching those olympic games, as a big sport fan. I know it is really stupid to waste my "precious" time. I just cannot help. But I am trying to watch as less as possible. The pressure is on, 29 more days to go.

Watched more videos on neuroanatomy. Target, you are right, the guy really knows what he is doing and is a great teacher. I was weak in Anatomy all along. I just didn't like it. But little by little, I think I have improved in this area. I just wish I have done the videos much earlier. Neuroanatomy will be finished this weekend. I will also try to finish as much general anatomy as possible.

There are too many things to do in the last month, way too many things. The single most important thing to do is to finish at least 40 pages of FA each day. OK, let's work on it.

Hi study499, thank you for your kind words.

I checked the answers for form 6. Since there is no right answer available, I just try my best to get a best guess. If it is an open test, I will have about 30 answers different. Maybe I am in the range of 30-35 wrong answers. I cannot believe this. To get a 99, I may have to limit the wrong answers to between 25 and 30. Every single question counts big time.

Time is tight. Need to have better time management and spend time on essential things.

  #274

Hey comit......Best wishes....thanks for that valuable advice!!..Im considering it!

All the best for you and Ur family.........A 99 would be a pretty nice gift nod

Thank you, usmlekiller.

I just had a relaxed weekend. I am happy the olympics will end in a week. I just can't get my eyes off the TVshaking head

But I think it is OK to loosen up a bit. I have been working too aggressively a couple weeks ago with about 3-5 hours of sleep each night. But I would not let the exam take over my life, especially not take away my health. Let me work harder after the olympics. I know it will hurt not to get a 99. But it will be much much worse to hurt my health in the long run. I need to be responsible for my family and my health will be the foremost important thing here. Ha, Is this rationalization for watching TV?nodnod

I wil take form 3 on 8/24, form 5 on 8/31, form 4 on 9/7. Will try to take UW evaluation tests in the final two weeks. All right, no running away from this. whatever happens happens. Barring major events happening, I will take the exam on 9/14. Friends, the final three weeks will be crunch time.

I have finished neuroanatomy. I feel better and more comfortable about this topic. But I still need more time to really master it.

I am also working on anatomy and behaviral science. It is such a dilemmasad. I just could not enjoy the games without guilt. I will continue to spend more time reading than doing Qs. Hopefully I will improve by this weekend.

hey commit i had a question......when i start uw for 2nd time......and if i try to do random questions that have already been used.....wouldnt it sometimes choose the same questions again or the software only choose those that were used only once? hope i made sense here lol please do let me know thanks! nodnodnod

usmlekiller, I understand your problem. I don't see an easy way out of this. The same questions may be chosen again. I somehow remember they have a reset option only if you have prescription of 6 month or more. After reset, you might be able to do that. I don't think that's necessary for you. Sorry, I don't really have a good solution for you.

  #280

hey yea they do have it for 6mth....man.....i guess ill just go bak and read the explanations than of the tests i completed and try to do the ones that r under 48 i guess.....thanks for ur help
