hey guys, i just got my result and i failed.now i don't know if i should retake it again or take the step2 first.it's just my heart is not into reviewing all over again for step 1.but i'm not sure if this is a good idea.i would really appreciate your thoughts on this.thanks in advance.

HI purple_md,
I think revising for step ck now is a good idea. Your step 1 reading will be helpful to you and you can return back to it after you have done your step 2. I haven't got my step 1 results yet, but that is what I would do, whatever the results will be.

retake step 1. work very very hard even if that means studying for a longer time, like 4 months... study everyday and do tons of questions
it will help you tremendously for step 2
with one failure, you will need high scores on both step1 and 2.
step2 is horror without the basis that you get from studying for step1.

purple_md,start anew,leave everything which demotivates u,go ahead with step 2 ,ur step1 knowledge will help u.If u failed step1 ,it doesnt mean dat u have put no efforts,it means dat the efforts were not enuf,need to put in more,give more to it.learn concepts THOROUGHLY,U CAN DEFINITELY ACE STEP 2,GL.

in my opinion u shud retake step 1 coz u still have sum of the material u read for step 1 fresh in ur mind and all u need is to polish the knowledge u already posses .on the other hand if u take step 2 now u will have to struggle for step 1 frm square 1 again.which wud b again quite time consuming. .having said that..i believe one should always follow his own instinct...so do wat u thnk is best for u .good luck.

there is no use to take step 2, because if you can't pass step 1, no matter how good you did on step 2, it won't count.

I disagree with summer. thunder. You can actually do either. What is your comfort level ?
I had initially started preparing for Step 1 with a full time job. Gave up after a couple of months. Found it way to hard and boring. Started prep for Step 2 CK and passed. This gave me confidence and I restarted my prep for Step 1 and passed it too.
Passing Step 2 CK first definately helped me with Step 1 material. Everyone told me that it was a mistake to attempt Step 2 CK first but I went with my gut feeling.
So if you are more comfortable with CK material then go for it. You can give your Step 1 later.

Do step 1 again. You have a lot of info now and it is going to be easier then 1st time... Get a week off if you can not concentrate and take first step ...first before second

i agree with cartman..i had similar situation, now passed cs, ck and now taking step 1 in a few weeks, i had failed step 1 prior to ck, but i did the same and took it, found it more relatable and somewhat not as specific as step 1, so i passed, gave me confidence, either way ur gonna have to pass them all, so what order u take, is ur disposition.. most ppl will reccomend step 1 before step 2, but again, these tests overlap so much, i had step 1 type q's on my ck, so really they're like the same exam twice, they just focus a little more in different things.. so best of luc in whichever u decide!!
