hi...does anyone has the experience of doing a externship/observership at a private physician...does it help ...will the physician give us a LOR....?They r very expensive...can we opt for it if no luck elsewhere?what r we supposed to do in a externship at a private physician..i am aware that externship means getting hands on experience...can anyone give more details of exactly what we r supposed to do in a externship...any advice would be appreciated .Thank you very much

Hi simi.Observership/externship is just observing or shadowing on a physician.It is not considered a hands on clinical experience but it does show you how american medicine works.It can be a plus on your resume but all depends on the almighty program directors.

hi dermadoc57...thanks a lot for ur reply...yes i agree that observership is just observing but i thought externship is something where we get hands on clinical experience...correct me if i am wrong.. confused
