Hello everyone, I would really like to know your opinion about that. An advanced Neurology program is my first choice; however, if I happen to match with them there is a 50% chance that I will have to find a preliminary position during the scramble. Now, I do not know what I should do. The rest of my choices are categorical but for some reasons I would like to have this advance program as my first choice. The PD mentioned that he will support me in finding a preliminary if need be, but I am still feeling a bit uncomfortable. I am an IMG and need visa… What should I do?

if it was me ( and i came very close to almost the same situation), i would put that advanced spot as #1. use your 50% chance, otherwise you might regret that you didn't.... after all, there is also a chance that you will match with categorical program, and then you will not need anything else, but you will know that you did everything you could to have your #1.... it does worth it
