Hey and best of luck for you all with the upcoming Match!
I have a question that maybe sounds cruel for some unluky fellows that failed this exam...I've sat for step 3 on 29/30 of January and my score just came out: 217/89. Here is the q: does the score matter in any way beside the Match!?!?! I was hopping at least a low 90's score thinking that it will sound better later on...maybe for a job application after residency...!?!?! ( I have a prematch in hand, thank God!)
Anyway I'm happy that I passed AND I don't have to take it again!nod

congratulations!

what matters most is that you pass it. In the matching process, what they look at is first the number of attempts and then the score. But that is in the context of your performance on your other Steps; and Step 1 and 2 matter more than Step 3. So, I think you shouldn't worry about your score (which is good to begin with). You ask if it will affect your perspectives of getting a job after your residency...well, even during the residency, let alone when applying for a job after residency, nobody would care about your Step 3.

Be happy that you passed it and celebrate your success! Good luck with your Match!

Inca o data felicitari!

Congratulations for your residency position! You still didn't say what specialty you'll be doing your residency in. But I think you're anticipating way too much. You have 3 more years to go during which you're expected to perform as good as possible and that performance is assessed in numerous ways and the expectations depend from specialty to specialty and from program to program). You didn't even mention whether or not you're interested in doing a fellowship or not.Start worrying about the job in the 3rd year of residency; you will have plenty of opportunities from various venues (program, your own job-hunting, headhunters, career fairs, etc.). Hope it partially answers your premature question!

Thanks again for the info!!!! I'm confident I have plenity of time to decide what I'm going to do after residency. I'm just not very happy with my score wondering how it'll affect my future careerconfused
