I see most talk about USMLE scores, USCE, and visa status when discussing credentials, but what about grades of core clerkships during M3 for IMGs, which is most important for US graduates I guess?
Though I managed to be in top 20% of the class, I got Cs in internal med and surgery clerkships. I think I even had a D in one elective rotation.......rolling eyes
Would it be a big disadvantage?

This is only my opinion, but I do believe clerkship grades matter, probably more so then the basic sciences... it tells alot about you as a student and to some extent, your knowledge and ability... some may say, "but the attending didn't like me so he gave me this grade" that may work if you had only one bad grade, but to have several C's and one D paints you as either a lazy student or one that is truly incompetent.. that's just my thoughts.

Here's the deal and it was confirmed by someone in this field. Its best to emphasize that you were top of your class. Someone may have all A's but it wont mean anything if everyone got A's at a given program - most programs dont have the time to research info on schools they're not familiar with. But being the top of your class means that you are a standout applicant. So focus on presenting that aspect. At the same time, dont bring up your low scores if you dont have to.

Well, I cannot deny I was somewhat LAZY as at student rolling eyes, but don't want to admit that I am truly incompetent.......
Thanks B12 and Biggy for your advice!
