Hi guys! during scramble time, i was wondering if we still have to follow the require ments of programs such as cut-off scores, USCE experience, etc. to be able to apply? or do you just apply if they have unfilled positions regardless of whether you meet their criteria or not? does this make sense?? hoping for some input. thanks!

It does makes sense. But the competition is so fierce that you hardly find time to do so. I think it might actually increase chance of getting post match. I think many programs prefer the applications through ERAS, which limits you to 30 applications. Faxing is quite common but i think faxes are quite ignored and should only be used when asked to. I also think that seats that you "hear" about outside the list by nrmp are quite unreliable mostly and lead to fax burdens to program which don't even have seats available ( i heard by program coordinators). All these favor search judiciously before applying an i would personally only apply (if needed god forbade) through ERAS only. On the other hand point can be made that since a program has empty seats then 1. it might overlook any or some of its criteria ( I disagree as programs would have many to choose from and i think they would rather wait because criteria are like policies made by administrators for which exemption in some require approval by them and is a headache at the least.) 2. in postmatch you are competing against others not matched for what ever reason and it is a less competitive pool. 3. programs who have unmatch seats (mostly) are very likely to be a less competitive program without any strict criteria like scores or year of graduation.
