Why is it different for >9y and <9y? if you know the reason, please help

<9y: amoxicillin
>9y: doxycycline

Doxycycline is drug of choice for Lyme disease ( Erythema migran ).
If it is contraindicated, Amoxicillin is second line drug to be used.
Amoxicillin is used for young children (enamel hypoplasia ) and pregnant women.
