Hi Simi,

Keep working hard and strive to do your best.Dedicate all your time and passion for step 2 CK .You will pass in flying colours. Schedule your CS Exam in July or August according to your preference. Try to have some sort of USCE under your belt if you can , and apply confidently.
Lets keep fighting and we are sure to win.All the best!

Factors that help an IMG get a Residency (in a nutshell)

Green card............Big Boost....its very difficult to find a right partner...but if you do........ go that path....

Your scores Its becoming horrendous now..looking back I should not have proceeded with my plan for USMLE after getting my step 1 score of 89. Try and get a score of 95 + for your Step 2. Without a green card or citizenship you have to get such high scores. I know a girl an IMG with US citizenship from one of those infamous caribean med schools ! , who had IVs in 8 places though she had a failure attempt in S1 and low scores 76-77 range in all her steps while I never got an IV from those very same places.

Your post graduate experience. Many progs in NYC are looking for post grad indians/reputed post grad institutes who can handle cases so that they dont have to actually teach anyone.

Your publications.

number of failures...even if you have just one...even in CS its a bad mark...I got a feedback from a PC saying that the reason why my application was rejected was my low scores in S3 and my 2nd attempt in CS.

S3 scores dont matter........Big myth....It does.... try and get 86 and above......its tough but for us IMGS ....we have no choice.

Get US LORS....helps

Get USCE..........dont know how but get it......BIG HELP.

Good luck man

It is tragic but true.Program directors now want people who they don't have to teach. This is the reason they want people with highest scores for according to them (it is probably a myth) high scorers know everything and will make excellent docs. Apart from good scores you need to know somebody who knows the PD. They call it networking.I have yet to meet a doc (PDs including) who knows all in medicine.
