Goljan audio...I did not work with this yet but everybody suggests. I am on kaplan q-bank now, did around 95% of questions very fast not paying a lot of attention to them...will finish and will repeat all wrong /marked ones with books reading if I would not understand.I also do some reading not much...did cell biology yesterday..depends how I feel...I can't use just one way of learning, boring...I hate anatomy mostly...never liked it... memorizing...not thinking...so I need to deel with it...sugh...oh.. I did start in the beginning of 2008 (good beginning) I can say that all did so far is Q-bank...not much...I increased my study time this week. Plan to take the exam in June. Hate to read books when it is nice outside...Will see.I did not register yet...I think if you postpone too long it is not beneficial...you will forget stuff...you better go fast using all you energy and recurces

hi everyone.. check out my post "study schedule-must read" i think it will help you.. also about the goljan. listen we are driving ourselves NUTS. with him. the poor man put out some audios and some notes for it. then his company decided to make two books on it. then here some people have word for word audios on it (ps-check out my post goljan audio notes if you want that). now really, it is the EXACT SAME STUFF. maybe about 5% in terms of changes. who cares?! lol. use one source-and that is all. simply put. use one goljan text . use goljan pics. period. who cares if someone used the textbook and you used his handmade notes. it doesnt matter. as long as they worked for YOU. we all have our own style of reading. personally-his rapid review textbook is great, but it scares me in its thickness lol. so i can not for the life of me remember anything on it. but his handwritten notes, make me think i wrote them. and it works for me .lol. his audio notes i use most of the time, as its his audio/notes in one. and i like reading diaries and emails, so thats how i feel like it is-casual. so use what you want. simply put. as long as you know it is a trusted and valued source, which goljan is, it doesnt matter which source you use. ps-i hope i didnt sound rude at all. lol i am slightly hyper.

hi there, please read the post i just made on "study schedule must read " it will help you get a new plan started. also i secretly think sometimes, that god grants us a gift when we fail. say you passed , but you deep down didn'[t know the material that well. then you would get cocky that hey hey i passed but i didn't work that hard, and then you know what , what would that teach you, besides, that on such a crazy hard exam , it isn't necessary to put in 110% effort. perhaps you would slide by in other things in life, maybe your patients would not benefit. whereas you failed, now instead of learning the information once, you are forced to learn it and solidfy it more so than the first time. you will get a higher mark, you are given a second chance! you learn the importance of hard work and i mean sweat gut wrenching hard work, remember this life lesson forever, and put it into everything that comes your way. i personally know alot of people that passed on their first try, just barely. now they have bad residency placements, also because they barely studied for step 2 "thinking- if i passed step 1, step 2 can't be that much more work" . if they had failed, they would have worked even harder, and scored higher. i hope this makes sense

Overcoming Procrastination When you face a difficult task, it can sometimes feel like you’re trying to move a mountain. The longer you stare up at the mountain, the more overwhelming your task seems. In this situation, it's very easy to start procrastinating by finding other things to do. Procrastination is one of the major obstacles that you need to overcome in order to make your dreams a reality. The secret to overcoming procrastination is to stop looking up at the mountain and start looking down at your wheel barrow. Let me explain… When you look at a complex task in its entirety, it is very easy to become paralysed by the sheer amount of work that you need to do. Your mind starts telling you that ‘it’s impossible’ and you spiral downward into a sea of negativity. The way to overcome this paralysis is to change your focus and stop thinking about the overall task you need to complete. Instead, just concentrate on something you know you can achieve. Let’s look at an example to see how this works in the real world. Peter is facing the ‘mountain’ of writing a PhD thesis. When he thinks about writing a 500 page document, it just seems too overwhelming and so day-after-day he procrastinates and avoids getting started. Each morning, Peter asks himself, “Can I write a 500 page document?” and his internal answer is “NO WAY!” so he procrastinates and looks around for other things to do – He takes his kids to school, goes to the gym, does the shopping. Anything to avoid the mountain that is sitting in his study. Finally, Peter realises that the best way to overcome procrastination is to stop looking up at the mountain and start looking down at his wheelbarrow. Instead of asking himself, “Can I write a 500 page document?” he begins his day by asking, “Can I work on my PhD without being distracted for 1 hour?” – his internal answer to this question is “Yes – I can easily do 1 hour” Peter blocks out all distractions and works on his PhD for 1 hour. At the end of the hour he feels like he has made a small amount of progress. He asks himself again, “Can I work on my PhD without being distracted for 1 hour?” – Since he has already done this, he knows the answer is ‘Yes’ so he does it again. By the end of the day, Peter has completed four hours of effective work on his PhD. He is tempted to look up at the mountain but he knows it is much better if he just focuses on moving his wheelbarrow one hour at a time. After a month of following this routine, Peter takes a look at his mountain and sees that his 1 hour blocks of action have made a dramatic impact. This gives him even more confidence and momentum to keep moving forward. Step-by-step, one hour at a time, Peter moves his mountain. If you are currently trying to move a mountain in your life, here are the steps you need to take in order to overcome procrastination and get the job done! Lesson : (1) Stop thinking about the overall task you need to complete. (2) Instead, focus on a small component of the task that you know you can achieve. (3) Ask yourself, “Can I work on this task without being distracted for 1 hour?” (4) Forget about everything else other than working hard for 1 hour. (5) At the end of the hour, ask yourself the same question again. (6) Move your mountain one hour at a time. (7) Enjoy the amazing sense of achievement that comes from completing a difficult task. Until next time, Dare to dream!

Hey AD worry not u r goin to do great next time round. Keepin in mind how u fared on the various subjects i think the best way forward would be to work really hard on pathology and pathophysiology. And do plenty of questions on these two subjects. Also i feel u should keep doin questions from these subjects even when u r not studying them. From my own experience knowin these two subjects well is an absoulte must. Also focus on clinical scenarios associated with most disease processes. Not all the fine details but just the classical description. Questions on the real exam are longer than on UW or the nbmes, I noticed that too (and of course they have much more clinical detail). I feel if u do an online question bank do it in a timed random mode. Stay ur positive self and u'll beat this exam by a mile n more!
