I guess we are about to see! I stopped making math in my head about my chances of matching because 1.- I am terible at match 2.- I hate math 3.- I was driving myself crazy! hahaha, so I decided to leave math for the gifted ones like prueba and I'll stick to the praying!! but I guess our answer to this question is going to be revealed very soon! Good luck everyone!! Yesterday I felt sad because I did not know that this year February has 29 days!! I was so upset when I found out!! One more day that I have to wait and I wasn't couting on!! I know it sounds stupid but this waiting game is painful sometimes!! But it's less than a month to go.... we're almost there friends let's keep our heads and our spirits up!

dear all... I have to agree with gloMD. It is just so hard to stay doing math about our chances when there is still a month to go. The reason I freaked out is because there is absolutely nothing else that we can do now. no more chances to talk to people or anythig our fate is amonth away from us and we can not change it anymore now. But I will stick to prayer.. .and see you on match day

Hi friends, although I thought about a prematch, finally I am also to the match. Hi Glo after some time... I am also in the same shoe with you, counting days. It is frustrating to wait. The most scary thing is I met couple of applicants during my IVs who didn't match last year with very good credentials. Same time some without having such good credentials got prematches in good programs due to connections. So you never know what will happen I am scared to think of going to match next year which would be more competitive than this. I would like to think that this is all due to increase number of applications, but I saw different faces every where I went, not a single familiar face. So it could be increased number of applicants. Also i didn't meet anyone with a score below 90, without USCE or research. So finally.... Increased number of applicants with very good credentials, that's my thought. Will see whether I am right or wrong in three weeks. Wish we all match this year!

well, i can tell you this: you were interviewed in very selective programs..... why i think this way? because there is no way that average score in candidates is around 95..... either way, it was like that and it will be like that.....(competition, i mean.....and sometimes not fair one)

Hey there, Hats off to prueba for making such a nice diagram. It appears that the number of applicants is steadily increasing over the last 5 years. Would that number be all different INDIVIDUALS applicating thru the Match? or would that be only the number of different applications in each different specialties? I've wondered thru the IV season how much bias in calculating the total number of applicants is related to the fact that many applicants apply to 2 or 3 different specialties, especially for the people who is applying for those perceived as "backup" specialties such as peds and FM. Also, by how many candidates with great scores apply to community hospitals, which they might not end up putting high or even in the ROL at all. So even if a small programs received a truckload of stellar candidates, how many of these do actually end up in such program? I have this gut feeling that some programs actually exploit this feeling (the-end-of-the-world-grab-whatever-spot-you-can feeling) to attract people for prematch. I have a friend who was a terrific IM applicant (at least what I think, 96/99/PASS/2 mo USCE) who accepted a prematch at a small university based program very early in the interview season, partly due to this overexposed rumor that Match was gonna be supertough this year. So I figure that we'll know for sure after match. Good luck to everyone, suerte! C
