A 28yr old man comes with 1month h/o SOB with exertion. smoked 1 pack daily for 10yrs. father and uncle died in their 40s of lung disease. lungs are hyperresonant to percussion, breath sounds diffusely dicreased. pulse oximetry on room air while patient is at rest shows a normal oxygen saturation that decreases to less then 86% when the patient climbs one flight of stairs. PFTs show an FEV1 of 1.0 L/min (25% of predicted) and an FVC of 3.3 L/min (70% of predicted). five years ago, his lung function was normal. histologic examination of tissue obtained on biopsy is most likely to show which of the following? A. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia B. Chronic bronchitis C. Panacinar emphysema Answer pls and why

PFT"s indicate it is an obstructive disease.......hyperresonant lungs........indicate emphysema Father and uncle died fromlung disease in early age probably a genetic disease so may be panacinar emphysemadue to alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency
