I'm in for the ride.

Dr_santamaria: try and have all the results and apply on September first, that increases the number of interviews. I think it's difficult (but not impossible) starting the process in March, though.

Thanks Arlete, you are very nice
Yes, I know is difficult but I started studying on januarywink, I'll take step 2 CK on May and step 1 on August.
The problem is that I can't do the step 2 CS exam until september... Do you think that is possible to apply on september and to get interviews only having the marks of step 1 and step 2 CK? And obviously to do the step 2 CS on september after I apply...
Thanks

It is possible, and from what I've heard, step 2 CS is the only one that a few programs will wait for the result and call you for an interview anyway. But to play safe, whenever you can, check the site and try and reschedule the CS for sooner than that. Just try, sometimes it pays off to spend a few hours in front of the computer doing that (and studying at the same time, of course).

Good luck!

I need someone to elighten me on a matter. In this link
http://www.otol.uic.edu/residency/match.asp

It only states the requirement is Step1 without any mention to Step 2. Does that mean they only need step 1 to apply and possibly get accepted? In other words I don't need step 2 to match?

yes that is true tht you can apply just with step 1...you can do interviews..... but you should have your step 2 done and ecfmg certified before match...

  #37

And the match results are around mid March right?

  #38

Yes. If you don't get prematched, you have to wait untill March.

sadiq:

step 1 = 207/84

step 2 CK= 257/99 (second attempt)

step 2 CS = I'll learn next Wednesday, I think I passed.

GC

graduate in 1992

Board certified cardiologist in Brazil, specialty arrhythmias and pacemakers

16 publications, 2 book chapters (1 author and 1 co-author)

Gap in CV (as a doctor) of 7 years, but worked as an EKG technician at Cleveland Clinic Florida for 20 months somewhere in the middle. 3 amazing LORs from there (MDs). 1 month of observership there, too.

I'll apply to only 4 residencies here in the city I live in. God is going to help me if He wants me to help the Americans as a doctor, because my chances are very slim. I'm doing my part, let's see what He wants. nod

RX, I completely disagree with you on this. No one denies that a high score is good, but beyond a point, the higher it is, the advantage tends to plateau off. You have a score of 99/96, which by anybody's standards is pretty darn good. It's sad if you're not able to realize and appreciate your achievement this far, and it may show in your IVs.

I urge you to look at the sticky in the Support forum. While most of the high scorers have posted there, remember only 1-2% of ALL applicants score 99s. And, as you know, MUCH more than that many IMGs do match. With scores like yours, you will be eligible to apply to pretty much ALL progs. Beyond that, it's your personality that will get you your spot. And that is something even 4 99s cannot add to the application.

I'm happy to see many people withOUT 99s share their story, it is very encouraging to someone like me. I need visa, I have no USCE as of now, but I have confidence, I have self-belief, I have a 89 on Step 1, and I will attain a higher one on CK. I will make it. As will you and the rest of us.nod
