Is their a difference between atherombotic stroke and atheroembolic stroke in terms of pathogenesis, clinical presentation and treatment.

thanks.

What is that? atherombotic? Never heard of it dude.

thrombotic stroke :

it is due progressive narrowing of the lumen due to atherosclerosis and rupture of the atheromatous plaque which expose the vascular wall and induce platelet aggregation >> occlusion of the vascular lumen.

the onset is acute ( within few hours ) .....

tx : aspirin , heparin only in stroke in evolution...

embolic stroke :

it is due emblism from the heart ... etc >>>>sudden occlusion of the vascular lumen.

onset is sudden ( within mins )

tx: heparin in case of AF after CT brain ( to exclude hemorrhagic infarction )

the clinical picture in both cases depends on the vessel occluded
