Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Please guys need ur help,

Is Kaplan Anatomy notes that Bad, or Kaplan Q-bank that Hard??or I'm the one that didn't study well??

As i reviewed Kaplan anatomy notes and watched the videos and i thought that i'm ok but when i got to kaplan Q-bank qs of Anatomy i was shocked.... my score is tooooo low, and most of the qs are about things that are beyond the scope of the notes, that i'm feeling i wasted a lot of time studying from kaplan while i should have used another source...

As they ask qs about the origin & insertion of muscles, about the course of nerves in relation to muscles, the site of angiography of vertebral a. to map the circle of willis .... ALL these are not in the notes ??? Also, some neuro qs that are so detailed like the chemoreceptor trigger zone for vomiting "never heared of it b4" ??? .... I feel like they are asking about more details that the notes provided ....

I don't know what i should do now??? i feel that i'm wasting my time ..... are the q-bank qs harder than the real exam.??? should i have used another source to prep. for Anatomy??? if so, what should i do now???

Thanx a lot guys for ur help.

hey u r not wasting time..lectures r imp and book notes r goood.do onething just add qbank in ur knowledge bc step 1 is like ocean so wt ever u do is not enough sooo concentrate wt ever in kaplan lecture notes..i m near my exam ang believe me if u look 7 subject as a whole u will find it difficult to hold all 7 subject at one time....my suggestion is just concentrate kaplan lecture notes and work hard on patho physio micro and pharma bc these subject r long and alot memorizing soo first try to learn kaplan and when u master kaplan notes then think for other book, there r many example that pplz do step 1 only with kaplan lecture notes....so r not wasting time n u r doing well/.best of luck....

Well the questions about vomiting centre and all are usually one time questions and are covered in the Qbanks.

Yes there is another source for Anatomy you will have to look up each and every CT or Angiogram for the Cranial Arterial system and then go for the MC ones from there. Like Circle of Willis and its tributaries or Int. Carotid and its important branches.

The question would be like they will show the vessel and then ask teh side effects when it is occluded. At the sound of it its difficult but as you know almost everything in MLE is interlinked so is its study. Half of the pathological states are given in Path and resp of the them are covered in NA in relation to arterial system pathology. So when you study the arterial system or the pathological states like Berry aneurysm or SAH then you should be able to locate the area where the Aneurysm might be. So its a hands on approach like a 3-D visual thingy. You have to look at it to get it onto memory.

Go for HY for NA and for Gross go for your school book but stick to the clinical part like for me it was Kieth L Moore Clinical Anatomy and i had no problems at all, just did the blue boxes and i was fine.

Everything is clinically related.

Sorry for the late reply.

As far origin insertion goes buddy mostly likely not asked. Yes however they will quizz you on the Inguinal or Femoral triangles and their relations or the relations of pelvis organs and spaces. Mostly it will be clinical and they will go for the most common stuff. Usually going thru old med school notes does help.

PS Just remember the Objective of the Qbanks is to orient you for a worst case scenario so if you get a question like in you exam you are able to solve it.
