scenario: a program has 10 spots for IM and they interviewed, let's say, 90 candidates. Do the programs then place all those 90 in their ROL? or do they make a cut and say rank only the top 30 or 40? any thoughts on this? am just curious

I am not sure but I have heard that programs do rank most of their interviewed candidates. they might cut the really unwanted ones but to make sure they don't stay unfilled they rank at least 7-8 per position. just like we do rank more programs (according to nrmp the success rate is around 90% if you rank 8 programs)...

We usually rank everyone who interviews with our program. This year our no-rank list is really small.....

I guess in order for you to make the no rank list, the interview must have gone really really bad... that stinks.

One of the PD where I interviewed said they r interviewing 200 applicants this season & will rank 70-80 applicants.

& another one said they rank all who interviewed which was 200,even who withdraw & signed prematch elsewhere at the bottom

so I guess it varies program to program.

A program interviewed almost 200 people for categorical posotions. They were ranking 175 of them, out of which 50 people with drew from match, so as of now, the program is ranking 125 poeple for 6 positions.
