i start my journal by saying thanks to a friend from this group who actually encouraged me to read the journals and explained me in detail how useful it is to read these journals and make one journal of my own .thanks guyton.

if guyton was the jump start i should say kalyann was the strength factor for me .he encouraged me so much .he actually wrote a detailed message after reading my lengthy story .thankyou god for giving kalyann giving so much positive energy and helpful nature and thanks for giving him to us.thanks kalyan you are really goooood.

i thinks this much is enough for today .i actually did pretty good study today after 45 days gap .now would be the good time to take an oath to never leave the sight of my books for more than a day coz its so hard to sit on that chair if i loose touch .i have told myself no matter what {unless i am really sick to study }i will study everyday 2 hours for sure .atleast in the night time from 10-12.am

i actually posted a link in biochem section its an animation of dna replication its really a goood one .

i am going to study for one more hour and thats it i will be ready for my son .i actually started at 10am this morning .so pretty good day i must say .

Good to have you here.
I know you can do it if you follow what Kalyann told you. I know it is not easy to study with a family . It is hard but not impossible.

i cant control my legs from moving away from this chair .was sitting here since 10am and now its just 1pm .ofcourse i took a long stroll for 35 mins during this time.needed fresh air ,did some revision ,

i realised if i want to concentrate more and not fall sleepy i need to speak out loud what i am learning .i think this is a good tip i would want everyone to try .

i think i should vary my study activities to stay longer with the books .if i just do the same thing i just want to close the books .

i have few questions for you my friends

how do i stay more concentrated not let anythoughts come to my mind {not comepletely but atleast to an extent

how do i stay longer with the books and stop this urge to move away from my chair

my day started at 10am and i usually end at 3pm to write my journal ,post my doubts in biochem page ,make some flash cards and so on .i will pack up my stuff and put them in their place .i usually feel very unproductive from 1-3pm but today coz of the stroll i felt very fresh and could study good .this is a major revelation for today .

i think my journal is very different from everyones in a way that everyone i stalking how many questions i did how many audios i did .and so on .i still havent reached there .my goal until march is to do as many mistakes a si can without criticizing myself and from april 1st week my day should be like this or with your help a little more studying hours in my plan .feel free to add any suggestions to my plan

sleep at 12 am
wake up at 6am
6-6 30 fresh up
630-700 walking
7-8 30 cooking and clean up and lunch boxes and say bye bye to my husband and kid,laundry
8-30-9am shower and breakfast
9-10 still breakfast ,reading strength giving literature,relaxing myself completely and get prepared for the day, arranging my books,
10-3 study with small breaks for fresh air ,
3-4 journals ,evaluation of my study ,flash cards,putting back books in their place
4-5 basic house cleaning{with tv}
5-6 getting snacks reaqdy for my son ,preparing light dinner for him ,shower,puja
6-9pm my son nikhil
9-10 relax totally {chat with my husband}
10-11 study
11-12ammenu and cooking preparation for tomorrow

with your help i might do fewer mistakes and get ready by mid march .

Hi janaki,

You can take short breaks for every one hour of study.

sometimes,Reading the same subject/topic continously, especially when its not interesting, makes not to study or feel bored.

So, you can try alternating it with listening to audios for one hour and then reading the material for next one hour so on !
If you are ok with music, you can leave some soft music in the background- just the sound tracks if not the songs !

you seem to work more and sleep less,
So, Try to sleep from 11pm-7am if possible for u, and you can do exercise when you feel sleepy in the afternoon, or in the evening by leaving the kid to your husband for half an hour.

Instead of keeping fixed timings for every task, ..you may want to do them, when u take breaks while u study.
I donno if its practical ...just telling !

my kid is home today .no school for him .and no study for me .there was a parents students meeting at his school .guyton you are a great friend thanks

nodi think it works better for me .by march my goal is to study 7 to 8 hours daily and balance my family .i am also planning to hire a maid for 3 hours or so so i will have more time to study .and this morning i was just doing a fw flash cards got a bit bored a nd i went to kalyans journal page and i saw his quote running walking and crawling but all in the forward direction.

i have always studied during day time after 7pm or maximum 9pm my brain goes to g0phase .so i decide di will sleep early around 9-30 10pm and wake up by 4am .coz this 4am will be there even if its a weeknd even if my son is sick 4am to 6am can be utilized well.

by gods grace i will finish these timing trials by march 1st or 2nd week so i can get into the hot stuff of uw questions ,qbank ,q books ,and all the real stuff .

nodyes yes if i do this waking up at 4am and sleeping at 10pm i am gaing a lot more time .by march i should stop experimenting with times and anything at all ..it should just be wake up at seduled times and study and study more and moreuntil i reach the nbme stage ,and the final exam.yes yes i can do it

I think with this kind of supportive and kind words from your fellow students i can can achieve my target .
today i woke up at 5am .MY GOAL IS TO SLEEP BY 10PM AND WAKE UP BY 4AM by march 1st week if someone asks what janaki is doing at 10am she is sleeping and where is she at 4am ,she is hitting the books .by march 1st week i am doing this .,i am going to stop eating refined carbs like pasta they make me lazy and sleepy instead eat some fresh veggies,grilled corn ,avacados,and fruits lots of fruits .no glucose in it just sucrose .even if i sleep or take a nap in the afternoon i will make it short for 1 hour .yes i can do this yes i can do this .
samay se pehle yaa samay ke baad na kuch hua hai naa kuch hoga{from forums}now the samay has come and janaki is going to move in no direction except forward .thanks kalyann thanks for your wonderful quotes .guyton and kalyann u are my jumpstarters {if thats a valid word} i will have to tell that to myself many times and never forget the friends who helped me in this process

nodslept at 10pm sharp and woke up at 4am .and i ma near the books now .just warming up .nodnod.12 more days and this will become a habit and not a hurdle anymore

goal is to wake up like this and follow these timings with ease by march 1st .no need of motivation its just a habit of mine .let me do this until march 1st .

hey janaki i just went thru ur journal ...u doing alot efforts.

Hi!! Janaki, U called me for advise and i'm taking inspiration from u r journal!!!!U r doing great. Like guyton was saying if u can finish small chores during u r breaks u might possibly get some extra time for questions at night or if not aleast some extra time for some well deserved sleep. Right now since u r just starting try to get atleast 7 hrs sleep other wise in a couple of days it is gonna hit u,( unless of course u r already used to 6 hrs sleep every day which u seem to be according to the schedule u posted) b'cz closer to the exam u r gonna get less and less time to sleep.

Try to get started on Questions from the beginning it self ur 10-11 time in the night could be for questions as a learning tool and not for testing.try doing like 10 Qs per day reading all the answers. might or might not understand but atleast 50% of what u have read will stay in ur mind and will also help u identify the important topics while u r studying the actual subject.also like guyton was saying watching the videos or listeniong to the lectures is a break to the monotony of just reading the books. also the videos help u to understand and assimilate the notes better.

Anyway do what best works for u. the main thing about USMLE is consistency, irrespective of the ups and downs of daily life. Trust me u are an inspiration.And u have the determination so u will do it.!!

I didnt pay my BroadBank bill and it was disconnected w/o notice. Anyways.. got it rectified today itself.. so i wasnt online.... U seem to be going the right way... Just keep on putting efforts from ur side and u shud see results coming ur way...

nodnod.6 more days and i am reaching march 1st .this should get into rythm now .i am already waking up few minuttes before the alarm goes ff so i guess my brain is getting used to it .

thanks kalyann i thought spoke hindi it was good when i saw few telugu words from you .you are a great guy and always stay that way .nodnod
