Hi, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to interview at Drexel's Psychiatry Residency Program. I know the enormous sacrifices you and your family have made in order for you to be where you are right now. Searching for the training program that best fits your needs takes a lot of time, thought and patience. I appreciate all you have done to make your dream of becoming a psychiatrist a reality. I hope your experience at Drexel and Friends Hospital was enjoyable. Meeting you and getting to know you was a pleasure for me. If you have any questions, please let me know. Good luck with your decision and the Match! Sincerely, Linda Dear puchpal, I was offered a prematch there, but I rejected it. It looks like a nice place, but I am taking the risks and going for the best!

My dear friends, I am currently making my ROL and Drexel is not among the top places. I am having difficulty deciding between Columbia (where I would be under J1 visa and Emory, where they told me they would give me H1b. By the way, I did not i/v at Yale...I gently declined prematch offers at Univ of Maryland, Drexel, Temple, Montefiore and Iowa I would very much appreciate your comments on the advantages and disadvantages of H1 vs J1 in these places. I am worried about the cost of living in Manhattan as well... I am sure we will have our best choices, so let us be hopeful!

There is a good review about that in the immigration forum. http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/25034/ I strongly recommend H1b programs. My personal motivation is because in order to be elegible to academic/research fellowships (NIH sponsored) we must be permanent residents (GC holders); and yes...u can moonlight during residency. Dont know about cost of living in Manhattan but for sure you will make enought $ for renting an studio.
