cytosine deamination {base excison repair}
why is it called damged base when cytosine is simply deaminated to uracil .uracil is a perfectly normal base although it shouldnt be in dna .why is cytosine called a damaged base ???this term was used in first aid book.please reply.

which type of dna polymerase is responsible for filling the gaps in case of thymine dimer,mismatch ,and base excision repairs in case of prokaryotes and eukaryotes

my guesses are
dna polymaerase 111 in prokaryotes
dna polymerase delta in case of eukaryotes .

what about dna polymerase 1 this also helps in dna repair right???please clarify
