first degree relatives in familial adenomatous polyposis should undergo gentic testing , so if we find one positive we still need screeing? (yearly after 12 age old) or we resect now?

thank u dr neuroblastoma
but you see in hereditary non polyposis colorectal cancer we do same (genitic testing ) and who positive we follow him by screen every 1-2 year from age 25

so why not FAP is not the same , actually i dont know , all talk in CMDT and MERCk about if test negative so ok , and make screen for whom we cant make test for them (unavilable) but what if test positive ? this no one talk about !

FAP is an inherited disorder that highly predisposes pts. not only to colon cancer but to cancer of the stomach & doudenum. Once diagnosed, colonoscopic surveillance with polypectomy should be done. Prophylactic polypectomy should be done esp. to pts. younger than 25 yrs. old. Due to its high recurrence, continued colonoscopy should be done from early adolescence onwards.
