Damn shucks missed it again i messed up the Beta selectivity of Metoprolol with Labetolol and forgot that Propanolol is used in Rx of Hyper TH so the answer is metoprolol as its a B1 selective inhibitor which is far more worse than anything else.

Though propanolol is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism,it is unsafe to use nonselective beta blockers in asthmatic patients....this is what books say.
Now im really confused bcas labetolol and timolol are also nonselective beta blockersraised eyebrow
Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta 1 blocker and can be safely used in asthmatics.

Can you please post the explanation?

Explanation

If a patient with hyperthyroidism also has asthma, you should select a drug that blocks beta 1 receptors without affecting the beta 2 receptors found in the respiratory smooth muscle. Therefore, selective beta 1blocker (such as Metoprolol ) would be appropriate.

Isoproterenol (choice A) is a nonselective beta agonist, not antagonist.

Labetolol (choice B) is a mixed alpha and nonselective beta antagonist used for chronic hypertension and hypertensive emergencies.

Propanolol ( choice D) is nonselective beta antagonist. It would block both beta 1 and beta 2 receptors and would therefore be contraindicated in a patient with asthma.

Timolol ( choice E) is also non selective beta antagonist that is used topically in the treatment of glaucoma.

So how is Metoprolol inappropriate treatment? That's what the question asks. confused

That is what i was saying....it is safe to use metaprolol in asthmatics.

I think question should ask about the "appropriate therapy"instead of "inappropriate therapy".
