wel in my opinion ..i think v all have sum form of dream or desire be to be either a neurologist or a surgeon or IM or emergency medicine..i mean since the day v passed out v have idols sayin to ourselves*i wanna be like this cardiologist* ....so thts makes it easier but life is not easy as it sounds ..if all of us cd get wat v want in life asin the reqd field of choice then v wd not require our belovedGOD ... so for tht v open our eyes wide enuff to c othr fields in form of options..so tht v don limit ourselves to just one choice but multiple choices/options ..say if i don get into neuro i try internal medicine or even surgery so keep ur eyes wide open n ur options ..coz u never know..how it may affect our lives n its just tht..for a girl its makes it a little tough czo they usually make thr choices based on spouse[ofcourse does not apply to all; im girl too ]..so teh yend up choosin family medicine or rather a 9-5 job coz they have kids n etc etc so the next time u ask this question u have the answer for it i hope i have made an attempt here GL

I wanted to deal with patients all my life so pre and paraclinical were not my choice....then I decided I wanted the whole patient...so ent, eye, gyn obg, as in restricted to some part were out...left me with gen med, surgery and peds...I really liked the satisfaction I associated with surgery but ran out on guts coz was relatively shaky bout the decision and gave in to all the horror stories bout female surgeons not making it...between the other 2 I actually chose peds because then it seemed MD would be enuff and DM was still not mandatory as it had become in gen med....and now my primary aim of trying for US is to do a fellowship for which I am ready to repeat residency in peds!!....kind of boring the desicion making process and doesnt always turn out the way one thinks it will....but thats how it happened for me...and at least I really loved the branch so have no regrets

i think most important question u need to ask urself is do u c urself thr 10 yrs frm now ..say like if i wanted to be int med, aftr 10 yrs i don want get bored of the monotonus pts ..same life everyday...cribbin not ahvin to take off..etc...like tht ...c if u don like it n stil u take the speciality coz it was the only seat available ...wat if u like it later??? wat if u r excellent at it?.. n also u need to decide whether u want clinical work later seein opds n ward duties... or a research work..or teachin...i think thr r lot of options GL
