I took my cs in sept 08 at chicago....made really stupid mistakes...browsed this forum for one whole week after my exam, reading experiences of ppl who thought they'd done badly, but had actually managed to pass...i vowed to put in my exam experience too if i passed the exam....so here it is:
forgot to wash hands in my very first case, forgot to use the disposable speculums for otoscopes in ALL cases (used the otoscopes without speculums...i really thot i'd fail), didn't do ophthalmoscopy in any case at all....i still passed...so very happy smiling face

congratulations !!!!
I have a question regarding the exam time.....i am planning to go for 2009 match. cleared step 1 & planning to give step 2 in june/july. I am planning to give csa in august. Is august too late to give exam and get the result? I think it takes 2-3 months to get the results. so my qoestion is can we start the application procedure ( which starts in sep) without the csa result and can upload the result anytime after we got it?
Another thingI want to know does the apllication without the CSA score affect the application and interview calls?
Any input highly appreciated......
plz advise....
thanks.....

congrats rakheev, pls guide me ,i failed in ICE.WHICH BOOK DID u follow?

vanilla - i would advise you to take your cs in july so that the reults will be available by first september....though you can apply before your cs results are declared, it does affect the number of calls you get....you will get a lot more calls if you are already ecfmg certified by the time you apply...i would say take ur cs first and then take your step 2 ck

i read usmle world cases...for ICE, you should remember the usual washing hands, draping, introducing yourself well, always explaining what you are about to do before you touch the patient, counselling at the end, etc..

congratts rakhee!! it seems either pretty easy task clearing cs..as inspite of making such mistakes that were barely pardonable in us.you cud managed to pass, or just a matter of time! anyways but ultimately good result is something which makes the difference.
