Generalized anxiety disorder (venlafaxine, buspirone, and paroxetine)

Social phobia (paroxetine)

OCD (Any SSRI in high dosage followed by clomipramine in unresposnive pateints)

PTSD (sertraline)
These are the main lines of treatment for the most important anxiety disorders....

Generalized Anxiety.....any of them is possible as 1st line..... but Venlafaxine would be you first choice if given....

Most important is the social phobia.....paroxetine
OCD and the clomiprimine after the SSRI
PTSD and sertraline.....

I usually remmeber them this way
PTSD.....has a P and an S closer to the end ..therefore Sertraline
Social Phobia.....has an S and P at the end......therofre Paroxetine
Obssessive compulsive......C and clomipramine
Lame ....no ..lol

another thing...short lived anxiety episodes...acute onset i mean
the drugs of choice are BDZ...esp Lorazepam and temazepam and Oxazepam.....
Predicted anxiety conditions....such as stage phobia (type of social but short-lived) should be treated with Beta-blockers.....

finally Panic attack.....acutely BDZ (obvious) ...then maintain with antidepressants....SSRI

Again...when u know the answer is a SSRI...then any SSRI is a good choice if present on the list.......

Good Luck and Let uskeep helping eachother

Why are there less people doing Psychiatry .....
this is a Big chunk of the step and not too a simple chunk.....
