is it necessary to dim the light while doing fundoscopy. plz ans

I did not dim the light. I thought that it will take time to tell pt that ur going to dim light and then dim them and again put them on.I did fundoscopy on 2-3 pts.(I passed)

yes you can dim the light...before the exam there's an orientation and it will be discussed about it.

Don't dim the light, unless you need some time to make up your mind to what to do next. Otherwise it you costs you valuable time. And don't forget: CS is not for testing you medical knowledge or skills, but for evaluating your interaction w/ patients/SPs (as well as english profience etc). You are not expected to do a 'real fundoscopy' like you would do in 'real patients', just shine a light into the pupil (warn the SP before you do that) and throw a look through to ophthalmoscope.
