Dear BBB,
How are you? It has been a long time since I have bothered you. I am currently doing intern year at a categorical IM program and obviously it has been busy but managable.
Last year I had applied to both IM and radiology programs. I reapplied for radiology residency this year but could secure just a couple of interviews. I am also trying to get a transfer to any radiology program that has an opening. Some of the programs ask for a LOR from the current PD. I have not declared at my current program about this.
I have no complains with my current program. But I am truly interested in radiology and so want to switch. I know that they love my work so far. I am not sure if I should discuss this with my current PD.
Please let me know your thoughts.

You should be honest with your PD and see what he thinks your chances might be.
