hi friends

i had my exam finished 2mrw. did one month of preparation. but the real exam was way beyond expectations. Nothing was close to UW or Kzplan stuff. Lots of Dermatology slides, Old X ray films, Geriatrics. My exam was 70 % IM, 15 % Surgery, Rest was mix of Obs/Gyn, Pediatrics, and Ethics. The CCS part went Ok except for 2 cases in which the patient wont improve despite adequate therapies. I did UW Q bank for step 2 and was quite satisfied with the Step 2 CK Exam but i didnt feel confident at all while taking the Step 3 exam. I studied Kaplan notes, UW Q bank, and CCS. Didnt read SWANSON as i found it too elaborate and out of date. Crush was too concise, essentially i chose to revise the material i had studied earlier than consulting any new books.

I just hope that i pass the exam and will be free from USMLE exams for ever.

Suggestions from Forum Seniors pls!

And when can i expect the result and how is it reported? Online? when? On FSMB website or OASIS?

thanks

during the exam i felt as if i was answering all questions based on basic instinct. but i dont recommend skipping UW Q bank and Kaplan Step 2 CK notes.

Hey anastomosis!

Welcome to the club! I've just returned from day 2 of step 3 and had exactly the same exam experience. I'm absolutely surprised and shocked.

I've done pretty well on Step 1 and 2 (96 and 81) and studied A LOT for Step 3.

Did all Kaplan lectures + notes
UW twice (first time: 60%, second time: 85%)
Kaplan Qbank: 67%
NBME: 510
USMLE CD: 78%

And yet, I found the exam MCQs extremely tough, especially on the second day. Very long, extremely complex cases, vague and strange questions and very little time. The CCS cases were ok. I screwed up 2 and got the other 7 right.

I sincerely hope they don't require us to get all those tough MCQs right in order to pass. My hope is that they intentionally create the entire spectrum from fairly easy to virtually impossible and let you pass once you end up somewhere in between. I don't know how realistic that hope is.

Do you know whether those people who eventually passed felt the same way during their exam? That'd be at least a little reassuring.

Well, let's keep our fingers crossed for everybody!

Yes, good luck to you!

I'll post my experience separately and hope to hear back from some people. Once I have the result, I'll post the whole story. Hope that helps someone.

Keep it up!
