one solution is to ask people who are doing their residencies now. Like what kind of response they got from the program, where they are doing their residencies, during IV, reply to thank you letter or rank high stuff...

i did that already.......and that was like a mixed bag......actually i know of lots of ppl who were told such stuff and didnt match......wen they tried to call the programs and ask them want went wrong , one was told that their contacting the program after match was illegal acc to nrmp!!!!.......another was told that they had so many candidates with 99/99 that they cudnt keep their promise.......i guess for some it did work.......but nothing is for certain.......

you wrote shabbakhair and it is an Iranian word means good night! by the way did you hear people who didn't get any positive feedback but still they matched! You made me curious as well! Could you please send me the exact words that your friends got but still didn't get matched! because some people just overinterpret in this critical time but when they tell you the exact words you realize that the words were so usual and not much important!

well shabbakhair is also an urdu word and means the same....... cant really get the exact same words but they were verrrry positive , she had scores in 90s....ans exp too.......and she had been sure she wud hav matched , was shattered wen she didnt........so u can imagine how positive they must have been.......but she got an off-cycle resid later so she is fine..........but her whole tale was an eye-opener.......

yes it is scary! But I wonder that I heard these sacry things during my preparation for step 1, step 2 CK and CS. But surprisingly steps were fair and I didn't experience what others did! So just don't know! No idea!...But busybee I also didn't hear the word "rank" from any of the programs that I am gonna go to match with them! But I know it is not ethical to say so from their sides! But still not sure....Hard to have any idea! Only option is WAIT WAIT WAIT....and hahahah at the end. You never know!

Let us join this thoughtful, interesting discussion by saying that I am also going for the match, applied late so not much interviews, also didn't get my certificate until recently, looking at nrmp, I found that most of the programs that I had attended went for prematch, I really think that some of my interviews went really well ,however they were late no prematch offered and no reply to thank you letter. My question is that I only sent e-mail, never sent a card, is it worthwhile sending a card ? for the time being..

Hi guys & gals! I am happy (and anxious at the same time) to join this group...I declined 3 pre-match offers (one of which I am still mourning about and not sure if it was the right decision ...) I am going into the match with 5 rankings and great hopes )) I wish everybody good luck! It would be devastating to go through the same arduous process again...

hey medicus, have you had any positive feeback from your 5 options that you go to match with them? Lets back to this forum after match and see if these positive or no fedbacks had any role at all.? at least for the sake of future applicants.

For Medicus81 Why go to the match with only 5?? List the program that offered you prematch if you prefer to be in one of them than being Unmatched??

Lets back to this forum after match and see if these positive or no fedbacks had any role at all.? at least for the sake of future applicants. Yes, I did have positive feedback from 3 of the 5 programs, I mean really positive...one did not offer pre-match (they never have ,but received an email from the pd on the day after my iv asking me how I think about them and that he would be happy to welcome me back in late june....), the two other ,totally apologetic, told me that they could not offer prematch (I did not ask for it!!!) because it was already late in the season but they told me they would have offered me one had they had the option and had it been earlier in the season, they told me frankly that they would rank me really high- so I would consider this positive feedback. The other 2 from the five I have not heard back from , no response to my thank you email. @Rashidy: 2 of the programs told me: take it or leave it! meaning either I accept the offer, or by declining it I will be removed from their rank list! so even if I put them on mine - they have removed me from theirs... that's sooo sad. this tactics should be abandoned! these offers came too early for me, I still had several more good iv's to go to...Now, the one offer I declined , like I said, I still think about almost every day and question my decision - because it was a really good program, in my top 5 from all applications and IVs I got. But probably I will never know. I remain hopeful that it will still work out. And I am not going to rank 2 other programs since I'd rather stay unmatched than work there (does that sound arrogant?)...

hey medicus! You have gotta the strongest positive feedback ever! To me it doesn't seem like only a positive feedback but a POSITION equal to prematch. So if I were you I wouldn't even think about the ones that I declined because you will definitely get matched %100 in one of these three that you got those amazing responses. You are not arrogant! You are strong and deserve the best! Just be relaxed, you don't even need to think any more. I'm glad for you.

nadia, thank you so much for your kind words and support ! I hope I am not going to belong to those few people who stay unmatched despite positive feedback...that would be really devastating! I can only imagine how these people felt on match day....Anyway, let's keep it positive. I just started my step 3 prep, so I need to stay focused good luck to everyone!

When you make ROL, would you make it depending on how you did on the interview or depending on your preference, especially if you want to submit ROL of more than five.. Since you know that you have a better chance of matching in these programs than the more competitive ones??

thanks busybee, I hope so too.... @Rashidy, I am lucky - the programs which gave me the positive feedback are my top choices, so I will make my ROL according to my preference...But even if I did not have this kind of feedback I would still rank according to my prference and not where I think I would match...

I finally finished all my ivs yesterday, and I am going into the match as well. Hope I am not joining this subtitle too late. I will rank 20 programs out of the 25 iv I attended. Will rank it totally according to my preference. It wouldnt be helpful if u rank the programs giving u higher position, as this match is designed to abolish this mutual-reaction and replaces it with candidate's love for the program. I will find out whether or not some programs LIED to me on the match day, because my No.1 program told me I will be ranked on the absolutely safe place.

hahaha mph you are a total rockstar!! you will rock this match for sure!! you have nothing to worry about!! now I feel bad with my 8 rankings! Nice to see you medicus! you will also do great for sure! Now that you guys are asking about feedback I have a friend that matched at a program and he thought he would not match at all because he had zero to little reply from them and there is also lots of people that were told they were ranked to match and didn't... so reply or no reply means nothing just rank in your order of preference and we'll see the truth on match day!
