Has anyone heard of or gone to AKU? It seems this s an awesome school with 3 graduates matching neurosurgery this year.

i know this school, its in Karachi, Pakistan. this is a top most medical school in Pakistan. my sister is from that school so i know it very well plus i also attended many seminars of that hospital. their 99% students get scores in high 90s in usmle almost every year. wonderful teaching school.

It is the best Private medical institute located in Karachi Pakistan. You can say in private sector ( high tution costs) ratings are:

1. AKU

2. Baqai university

3. Ziauddin Medical University.

In Public Medical institutes which are obviously govt funded (with low tution costs) ratings are

1. Dow Medical College

2. Sindh Medical College

These are rough ratings for Karachi only but there are other good schools in other cities too like in Lahore , Multan, Peshawar and Islamabad.

People normally prefer to study in govt funded medical schools as they save huge tutions costs and therefore admissions are fierce there. Leaving those who prefer going to private if they have money or no choice. Ofcourse exceptions are everywhere.

Grads of other medical Schools in Karachi are equally good but Aga Kahan University faculty has right connections in USa and thats why they ask for such high tution fees.
However to note when i took a course there in AKU -only one course- it seemed scoring and understanding of subject is faculty responsibilty with group classes but individual attention to each student whether they grasped the subject or not, believe me i was impressed.
