Hi everybody, I'm an IMG and presently I'm working in US .My job has nothing to do with Medecine. Although, the company I work for is among the best in this State, I can't stop feeling guilty about the time I'm passing there(15 to 25 hours per week) , not studying for step1(whitch I want to take on Sept). Every payday, brings me a little satisfaction but it doen't last and I need the money badly. I can't stop thinking that I'm in the wrong place again, it has nothing to do with the company. If someone can give some advice, I will greatly appreciate it.

I think that nobody can take the responsibility of advising you in such a delicate situations. It is hard to work and study medicine. If you want money forget the Usmle and work. If you like medicine forget money (for now , it will come later). To do both it is very difficult. It is all up to you.Define your priority and do what you think it is the best for you. Good luck.

You are sure right, may be advice is not the good word but share. Yes hearing from someone who has been in the same situation and made it through. For me this is like a tunnel, keeping me from reaching the ligth of medicine. The farther I go into it, the longer the rest of the way is. And I want to be a Heart Surgeon. That's a long road. I'm thinking of boroing money and stoping this job. Thank you for telling me what I am refusing to hear. It's a tough choice . But I made it years ago, when I decided to go to Med School.

I am forgetting about the money and the job all together. I have resigned, big decision. Now I have to succeed really bad in Step 1 to compensate. It was hard, tearful, but in the end, I felt peaceful. It has been a wonderful ride. Thank you Domino, for just being there.

I am indeed looking for a new job. And guess what, I am looking for a full time job but this time related to medicine. I am not able to study more than 8 hours a day efficiently and my checking account is drying slowly but surely. I have no regrets of having left my previous job. Life is about making decision and accepting the consequenc

Thank you for your kind words Domini. You are a wonderful person too. I will feel very successful the day I got into surgery residency. Of course it will be just the beginning of the hard work but baby steps are not bad. I know that it is going to take time but hopefully less than Med school.
