One glucose can yield two pyruvate under aerobic condition and in the citric acid cycle malate is the substrate formed later than others listed.

nod C. Malate is correct.

Malate is at the end of the TCA cycle and is broken down to oxaloacetate with production of only 1 NADPH for each cycle . ATP is generated from high-energy phosphate bonds or from NADPH or FADH in the electron transport chain.
