You need ECFMG certificate to participate in the match then scramble. Certificate needs CS, step 1, and step2 ck pass.

agree with robin, without ECFMG certificate you can not participate in Match/scramble, and for that you need clear exams... there is still a possibility to get a spot closer to the start of residency (outside of Match), but you still have to clear CS and get certificate before you contact programs

You do not need to be ECFMG certified to participate in the match, but you do need to have passed USMLE Step 1, 2 CK and CS.

just confirmed with NRMP web site.....DrS is right....I was absolutely 100% sure that in order to participate in Match we need ECFMG certificate in hands.... in any event, exams should be cleared, and that is something everybody agrees on another thing, if you match, you have to start working on your State License and there you will need your certificate again....except NY State, where you do not need license to start residency
