Dear friends,
I am in search of a proposed date for the start of my residency to apply for Optional Practical training (OPT). I know the date varies for different programs. But, is there any date before which residency could not be started for 2008-2009 year? i.e the earliest date that a residency could start, after we get the match result in March.

Like you said, the start dates vary. Most of the programs though require you to be there AT LEAST a week to 10 days earlier for orientation purposes- lab coats, pagers, parking permits, tours through the hospital, parties to meet the rest of the staff....also recall classes, simulation classes, ACLS etc...so I would say- be prepared to be wherever you need on or around June 15.
