It tells u the extent of damage to DNA , used to tell the carcinogenicity.. Read it somewhere . Know nothing more than that

No, it is a test for mutagenicity of particular agent. Uses Salmonella spp, with mutation in Histidine synthase. So they place that Salmonella on agar w/out Histidine, and it does not grow... then add agent, if mutation have happened then Salmonella will grow, cuz it will have acquired the His Syn gene through mutation in genome cauesd by the agent added.

Gul , Yes, we just need to know that it measures DNA damage and correlate well with carcinogenicity invitro , frequently used as screening test for carcinogenicity .
