Wikipedia has been accused of exhibiting systemic bias and inconsistency;[8] critics argue that Wikipedia's open nature and a lack of proper sources for much of the information makes it unreliable.[69] Some commentators suggest that Wikipedia is generally reliable, but that the reliability of any given article is not always clear.[11] The project's preference for consensus over credentials has been labeled "anti-elitism".[10] Editors of traditional reference works such a ....... etc

Yeah, some things written on it are plain wrong. It may be good to read for some superficial knowledge, but I wouldn't use it for an exam. Who can predict which bit of info will stick and subsequently pop out when facing a qn? Don't take that risk.

I find that plain ol' Google works wonderful, coz you are exposed to various sources, writers.

don't use wikipedia to study, a 5th grade can edit any articles on there.

If a 5th grader edited wikipedia article it would be like this -

Genetics of Muscular Dystrophy:
These conditions are inherited, and the different muscular dystrophies follow various inheritance patterns. Tarzan would have had one of these diseases. The best-known type, Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), is inherited in an X-linked recessive pattern, meaning that the mutated gene that causes the disorder is located on the X chromosome, one of the two sex chromosomes, and is thus considered sex-linked.For over twenty years, from infancy to manhood, the ape-man had roamed his savage jungle haunts without human companionship of any nature. He had learned at the most impressionable period of his life to take his pleasures and his sorrows as the beasts
take theirs.

I think I have enough CPU power to figure that out coolgrin

Yeah a 5 year old can screw up a quantum mechanics article but it would be fixed in no time because they recieve about 30,000 search requests per Sec.!

I feel it is quite reliable however I feel there is a 'more reliable' article somewhere on the net for every wiki article. I prefer to Google it and find a trusty source. Also searching Pubmed ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/ ) for "review articles" with " free full text" would be time consuming but highly reliable. In addition I came across this customized google search that claims to give relevant results for doctors called Dr Google http://drgooglemd.blogspot.com/

  #10

ok, lets then add this to our list of links

  #11

Yeah Wiki cant be taken a final word. We have a lot of other sites which give the most comprehensive answers but Wiki is the first look place and then start your search from there for exact references.

yes, a 5th grade can edit any article if s/he chooses to do so, and it is really not that hard, you can just search for those particular subjects online, read them, then add new things in the articles on wikipedia.
