hi rifat even I am planning to do it in August. Which month are you planning?
Maybe we could share a room

  #3

hi..even implanning to do my observership in florida in july-aug...can u pls tell how to apply for that

  #4

For Cleveland Clinic, you have to fill a form in their website, send some documents and pay $350 for them to evaluate it. But I am not sure they offer observership during these months, since the PGY-1s are starting on the program.

I did an observership (IM) there and liked it. I worked there for 20 months and really, really like that place.

Dear arlete, could you tell me the how much do they charge for the observation in Cleveland Clinic each months?

  #8

They don't charge for the observership, they charge to look at your application for it. Unless it changed recently and I don't know about it. And I am talking about Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Dear Arlete
thanks for the answers in this post
you are of great help
I jus wanted some info on the observership program in CCF
assuming i apply now and they decide to offer me the observership, how long is the time lag before you can start the observership? is it possible to start it in the next month itself?
and would you have any idea about obs/ext in atlanta, georgia?
thanks for any input

Cristiano: I bet they are booked for observership for a few months ahead, at least it was like this when I was there, so I think it won't be that easy. You may try, though, good luck... I know nothing about Atlanta, sorry...

Thank you Arlete, God bless you sweety , you are such an inspiration and I see you helping others all over the forum. May god bless you .I am trying for obsevership, in Cleveland clinic Florida in Family Medicine. It eased me knowing that you have also done observership there. I want to get an overview of the obsevership, howz the environment. I have another problem that is housing, as Florida is new place for me, I live in California. Can u suggest me something on that please.

Thanks again.

I did an observership in Internal Medicine. The enviroment was great. Of course, there were residents/interns who were very nice, there were two that were not (but nothing personal, I'd say it was more about their difficult personalities), and all the staff was awsome. I learned a lot. The PD is very congenial and sounds like a walking Medicine book. I highly recomend that place for observership and residency.

Weston is a very expensive city, I don't think it would be easy to get a place to stay there. Two friends of mine stayed in Fort Lauderdale and drove back and forth in a rented car, it was cheaper that way.

That was prompt reply , Thanks again Arlete. Its so tough to get hold of them on the phone. Can you please tell whether I need to be ECFMG certified for observership. And also on which ground would they reject any application , I guess the application fee is nonrefundable even if rejected. Thanks a ton again Arlete.

  #19

The last time I checked, they wanted the step 1 result, only. I don't know how they choose people. shaking head

I called them today, and said ECFMG certification is needed

  #21

Oh, my...! I bet they are flooded with requests, so they are making things more difficult for the candidates. At least you didn't lose the $350...

Good luck!

Thanks arlete,

You are of great help. I am very concerned about Observeship but so hard to find a spot in CA. Please you can tell me some accomodation in Cleveland around, how much does the housing charge monthly for single room? Are there any Greyhound bus system out there, arlete?

Thanks in advance,

Respect,

I am sorry, I can't help you with that. See, I used to live in Weston, and that's a very expensive city. Your best bet is find something in Fort Lauderdale, rent a car and drive everyday. That's what I've seen people doing.

Good luck!
