big big congratulations!! I am glad you are happy. I also declined 3 prematch offers, dreaming to be matched in my number one program. But interesting enough the programs that I didn't accept prematch from, broke up with me permanently!! and I can not even rank them any more! So it's heartbreaking why they treat me like this?!

Thank you, NNL, you were here before i came, and you are probably one of very few here today, who remembered my beginning, my exams (the vrazyness of it at least) along with Mytime

i am not leaving, i still have step 3 ahead of me, but it sure feels much better knowing that i am THEREsmiling face

Thank you

What do you mean you can't even rank them?

sorry to hear that, but please, do not be discouraged,,, you know, there was a moment this morning when i decided that i didn't matched (other candidates were already contacted and i was not), so i truly felt wha it's like - not to match... and you know what? knowing that I did everything i could for this day to come made my pain much easier, so... you do what you can, and wait what happens

thank yousmiling face

yes, i am an old graduate, but not old in my heartsmiling face not at allsmiling face

my great concern was that my list was tooo competitive (WashU, Mayo, SLU, Downstate), and my #1 was Children's Mercy in U of Missouri in Kansas City - it felt so good to be there, so i put it on top of my list.

at times i felt completely hopeless - not much of experience, huge gap between graduation and this day....I still do not beleive i made it

tnx babydoc4usmle. Yes you are right , who knows maybe I will be happy in two months and share my happiness here with you. You never know what God has for us in the store and I am sure that God has always been kind to me and of course to everyone.

Nadia:

I am rooting for you. Don't let some rude people put you down, it's good you won't have to deal with them on a daily basis, they react badly to frustration...

Babydoc:

You give me hope! Congrats again.

thank you everybodysmiling face

as for your questions...

well, it is true, WashU or Mayo seem to be the places were people want to go, and when I went for IVs, it felt great, it was like going to a Disneyland for a child (and at times I wished i was a child).

the program I matched with doesn't sound as big as others, but it does have attributes of all those "prestigeous" programs i went to - they have lot's of didactics (including 3 hours in class every Friday), they have residents assistants, who would help interns and residents with phone calls and schedules, and other administrative stuff; they have international rotations; they have research; and other things along the way. and on top of it people are just great, i was so impressed with PD there (both actually), residents are extremely happy... it felt like i could start right then and there....i could care less about their NIH rank, or anything of that sort...5 years is a pretty long time to put up with pretty picture at the expense of my happiness.

please don't get me wrong, i did enjoy every single IV, i feel honored to be able to say that i met those people, i went those places, and if it happened that i matched in any other program on my list i would still be happy.... it's just that my #1 felt so right for me.... almost non-explainable, i felt like i didn't want to leave.

until my last IV (at MY program), i thought it will take honorable 3rd place on my ROL, but after I went there it jumped right on the first place and i didn't think twice about it.

this is going to be a 5 years training in Child Neurology (2 years of peds, year in adult Neuro and 2 years in Child Neuro), it;s like residency and fellowship combined, and the end of this training I will have Neurology Boards and become "Neurologist with special priviledge in Child Neurology". I also will be eligible for Peds boards if i decide to sit for it.

so, having said all that, my ROL was dictated strictly according to my wish to go to those programs (i did exclude one program out of 6 IVs), and if you look at the algorithm of the Match, that's the only thing that matters, and all those speculations that you have to rank program according to your chances to match there - one big pile of BS. what does make a difference is the position you have in program's ROL, and no matter how high or low you rank a program, you will match with it if you stand high enough (which YOU can not change or affect other than go for interview).

i thank you again, and i wish you have the same feeling at some point in time - it feels really goodsmiling face

congratulations...i hope we all match as well to our top choice programs!!smiling face

congrats babydoc
