I have had much help from people here so I will share my tips and experience . Ok, 1st read , 2nd read , 3rd read ...You DON"T have to follow this ! I studied for four and a half months . Took NBME half way through and scored a 225 . Took another NBME ( NBME @ ) four weeks before the test and scored a 240 . Real Usmle grade 245 ! From my experience - THREE resources is all you need !!! 1st Goljan audio 2nd First Aid 3rd Usmleworld You can't possibly know everything . But if you know these three resources very well you will do great ! One final word is that I got discouraged along the way and was gonna give up but soldiered on and just took the stupid test . For referece I used Kaplan lecture notes . My advice is to study no more than five months . The material will become mundane and you will be bored and forget a lot of stuff . Yes the test is doable . It is easier than Usmleworld .

I should also add that my faith in the Lord Jesus was the main reason that I got through this test . Praise the Lord ! P>S About the actual exam - Pathology was the main topic and Goljan Audio helped to tie in all the different areas . First Aid was great for pharm , micro and biochem . Use kaplan notes for reference when you need more explanation than is in first aid .

BhanSupriya , Believe it or not . FA covers anatomy very well . If you need further reference , high yield is a good bet . First aid has all the info - believe me ! Now having all the info is clearly not enough , so you must use usmleworld to test these concepts after listening to goljan . However if you need to read kaplan , then do it ! P.s Anatomy is low yield . PPS Do not let this test take over your life . No more than 4 to 5 months . More than that and you will burn out . Good Luck !

Dr shummy ..if you use high yield anatomy and high yield neuro along with first aid and UW you will be set for the usmle .. Or you can just go read the thick anatomy book several times like some have suggested . The key is to understand the high yield info .. You ultimately have to do what works for you so take any advice with a grain of salt anyway take my advice with a grain of sald and do what suits YOU best everyone is different good luck

Please take all advice with a grain of salt . Everyone is different . Many people have used Kaplan Qbank and have done EXCELLENT using just QBANK . UW was cheaper so I used it and it worked for me .

Hi Troy, congrats, I am writing this hoping that you might help me. i have been preparing since an year, and now i am doing UW qs. My score is very poor, i can say below average. When i saw the posts who got 99, they say kaplan, goljan and FA. When i go through the posts who failed, they also say they completed Kaplan, goljan and FA - to my surprise these people have revised the material 5 times or 3 times like that ! A 99 person and a failed person both are using the same material, then where is the problem ? I understood that, Its " The way of reading" - so i just want to know what is your way of reading ? can you remember everything by reading once ?, or you cram everything ? you recollect everything ? how ? when you do q's...how do you make use of them ? do u write notes from the qs u do? or just remember the right answer?, or recollect it daily ? just tell me something.....i am really feeling like, i am incapable of doing all this !

UNET, i think the more UW questions you do, the better your score will be...go through ALL the explanations for every question, and make sure you know exactly what they are asking you, and why the wrong choices are wrong. when i started UW, my scores were low too, but the more questions i did, the better my scores got. when you read, make sure you understand the concepts, and why certain things happen. for example, when you are reading about a certain disease, make sure you understand why it presents with certain symptoms, and why you see the specific gross changes, and micro changes. the key is to understand why, since this is what step 1 likes to ask. if you are having trouble understanding, they read goljan's notes, or even pocket robbins (it may be too much info, but it is an easy read, and explains well). i wish you good luck, and hope this helps!
