hey ppl i need help here...in the normal gaussian curve mean =median=mode..

in a positive skewed curve mean is les than or greater than median??..which one's correct?

  #2

in a positively skewed curve MEAN > MEDIAN > MODE
in a negatively skewed curve MEAN < MEDIAN < MODE
in a normal MEAN=MEDIAN=MODE

for further help read first 40 pages of kaplan behavioral science or read the last 20 pages of BRS Fadem.

a little advice when looking at a question of this sort just look at the graph and try to understand it; you will get the hang of it.

  • longer tail on the left means skewed to the left means mean on the left of median (smaller)
  • longer tail on the right means skewed to the right means mean on the right of median (larger)
  • tails equally long means normal means mean about equal to median
