Hi everyone, I graduated from a Medical School in Morocco this past November then moved to the US. I'm planning to take Step 2 CK before Step 1, is that a good idea? Has anyone here done the same? Also, I just got the CMDT 2008 book and I'm planning to get the Current Emergency Diagnosis and Treatment book. I've read from a lot of people that the best preparation material is from Kaplan. Is there a way to buy those books (Kaplan Lecture Notes) without enrolling, or would I have to take classes there to get the books? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

You can probably find the whole Kaplan package on ebay . I failed Step 1 , and then I took Step 2 CK before re-taking Step 1 . I still have to re-take the Step 1 probably in July . My Step 2 CK score was 95/231 . I don't think I had any Step 1 questions in the CK exam that weren't covered in Usmle World , but because I had gone through the material for Step 1 once maybe I'm not the best to advise. I do know of someone who started with CK and got 99 on the first attempt . So it can be done . Just make very sure you take the NBMEs before the exam and see how you present . Just improve in the areas where they say you are weaker and you should be fine . Good luck !
