When performing this exam, do we place both hands on both sides of the chest ,right and left?Or do we palpate each side, asking the patient to say 99 each time than move to the other side to repeat the whole thing?

i think we should place both hands on both sides of the chest (L/R) and then ask patient to say 99 - that's the only way to compare if fremitus is increased or decreased

That's how we used to do it in medical school according to our doctors who are MRCPS( members of the royal college of physicians).But i wanted to know whether that was the way it is done in the usa.

U can palpate one ICS on one side then with same hand switch to same level ICS on other side and so on.By this u compare on both sides.Thats what I did in exam.
