Hello Friends,
Here i am.... stepping forward towards my dream....with a prep journal for step 2 CK .
I am done with step 1..6 wks passed by and am just starting my ck prep. i want to stay positive and focussed althrough this journey.
i want your help and suggestions friends. i am new to this CK forum, though made a lot of nice friends in step 1 forum. My friends there,r u reading this ?? finish with step 1 and come here quikly..
I am not sure when i wil take ck..but as of now..its end of april. it will depend on few other factors in life.
May God help me thru this journey..and fulfill my dream.

What are your sources. Most people recommends Kaplan notes, UW, Kap video etc.. Read on.. Again Good luck!!

Ok..now abt today. i did a lot of work today that ws pending for long. so i am happy for that.. but spending the whole day outside resulted in a bad hdache whch affected studies !!
At least i shud make a plan now .

Plan ( 22nd Jan)
Exam in beginning of May.
-Have 3 mnths and 1 wk.
1st read- by 15th Feb.
so 22 days..have to do fast.
Finish Q book along with 1st read.
Then take up UW in mid feb and start second read. i have to do lot of qs this time.
Ok..this much for now.
i must remember,i am nt taking any attachment only to study full time and take exam in early may. I have to stay focussed. and i am a big forum addict..hv to be strict !!
is it doable acc to this plan ?? i wud appreciate any help from seniors.
Materials i have : kaplan LN , Q bk. hv d/l 3 cardio vdos.
does anyone have vdos of other subj besides IM ?? can u pls share any link if u have??

hi mydream...i have started with IM, just done with cardio, GIT ,endo and rheumat....everything else s remaining, started with infectious d's...lets see hw much time it will take....actually i feel , i havent got d rhythm yet, going very slow....my exam would be in march end or april starting, not decided yet..mostly around urs only........so lets do it together....
actually i liked ur plan...i guess , i ll follow it too, if u dont mind......

Hey hir..of course u can follow my plan....that might help us to fix a target !! u hv done few chaps..i have started with GIT today. but had to spent the day outside for some work. tomorow again i will have to go out . so for me also this wk wont be full time study. but i will try to do in between.
hir..picking up the speed is really the challenge in the initial period.thats why i wanted to start ck just aftr stp 1.bt it didnt happen.so i too m having same problem. but if we stick at it and motivate each other..hopefully we can do it soon !! lets try !!
do u hv dvds ?? then its nt possible..actually i am nt getting any link for d/l of other subj !!
So all are almost taking arnd same period....hoping to see u too MDz !!
Its 9pm now..so i shud go and study for few hrs.

Again another day got wasted....the whole wk went the same way......dont know what i did in last mnth...all small works were pending..and now i am running everyday to complete them....tomorrow....again...!!!!
Hey Hir..thanks for checking. how far did u do in infectious dis ?? i cud just read few pages of git aftr coming home today. i have to save time from everything else..time is too short.
i am thinking of starting infctious dis...and do both git and this together.....then we can do qs....and clear the doubts. whr r u located .. US ?? just asking for the time zone.. me in india.

hi dear, that would be gr8 if u can start with infectious d's too....i m reading from kap notes n have reached upto urinary tract infections...yup , i do live in US, california so 13and half hrs behind than u guys, so wot , we can regularly meet here, right????

I am at home hir......its raining since morning !!
so will go tomorrow/monday.
woke up very late..ws doing GIT.ok..will start Infectious dis now..then do both .. i will try to do smthing diff this time..reading diff things at same time..otherwise i get bored and get stuck..and it takes longer time. lets see..whther i can manage it. its aprrox 30 pges till UTI....will try to do as much as i can.
yes of course we will meet here..just for the info i asked....whthr to wish u good morning or nite !!

Welcome to CK FORUM.., this is one forum i will miss always, coz I made some gr8 friends here, and I surely do miss this forum and my friends coz NOW tht i am officially getting prepped for becoming a step 1 nerd
ALright, Regarding CK, 3 months is more than enough! Stick to kaplan( LN AND DVD's) and UW...What i would like to suggest is to LISTEN to the first lecture in CARDIOLOGY by dr.conrad fischer, this wil help u to orient urself in CK, he is an amazing guy( like goljan in step1), and he will tell u exactly how qs are framed in CK, which is quite NOT the same like step1,so if u orient urself in the beginning , u will know how to approach the CK qs in the right way.
Regarding KAPLAN q book, I did attempt all the qs , and I got most of them right and I thought the exam is going to be easy, but the fact is that , u can score high on this book, u if u learnt word by word from KAPLAN lecture notes.BUT the story with UW is completely different, so Try doing UW subject wise from the beginnin itself, trust me, u can a lot more which u cant find in kaplan notes from UW.
Cardiology and cardio topics in EMERGENCY medicine is a very HY topic in the exam, as well as the ECGs, do not keep the ECGs for the last day of the exam, learn them along with the cardiac diseases..I had lots of ECGs in the exam , I got them on a MATCHING SETs!( 5-6 QS with cardiac s/s and 5-6 ECG's to match accordingly)
2nd HY subject in my exam was Psychiatry( again kaplan and UW is enough)
Another suggestion I would like to make is to study PEDIATRICS along with IM, simply coz both are very similar and u get lot of extra info in pediatrics which u can apply in IM, and I did get some IM qs right in UW coz i learnt pediatrics along with IM.U might find PEDIATRICS overwelming if you keep it as the last topic to read.
Ppl do suggest to read FA, but I havent read it myself, coz it didnt have anything that wasnt already there in UW or kaplan LN. FA of step2 is not as good as step 1 FA period! I didnt do NBME, but i attempted most of them in this forum and u may not find them difficult, if u learn kaplan LN and UW
Well I cant of think of anything else right now, Pls note that , all that i wrote above is in my personal opinion, some may or may not agree, this is what worked for me, and its absolutely NOT neccessary that it has to work for u,. You are in the intial stage and there is time for you to experiment diff methods on how to tackle CK, make a choice that works best for you..

i have hrd 2 lectures by Dr. Fischer..they are wonderful. i will try to d/l others if i get the link.but no where i am getting vdo s for other subjects ..apart frm IM.. !!
i too thought of doing Im and peds together. and YES....ECGs....i MUST remember that to do quikly .. thanks for reminding. by the way....whr from to do those?? kaplan and UW only ??

hey MD, hw was ur day??? went under the quilt???? dont say that u again went to sleep..i know, i also woke up late, as its not that chilli over here in california but still dont like to wake up till 9 am in the morning, very bad , right....today i have to go out, to search of some "USCE".......i know that nothing s gonna happen but still try, try n try...
hey dear so u started with infectious, u know, its pretty interesting but sometimes u feel that u know everything from step 1 n then u ll loose d speed, that wot happens with me no worry, u do it slowly...u would definately catch me...

Hey Y sud u be struggling to read u are already at 92 take it from theere. Read Surgery n OBG first coz that's new. Then combo of paeds n IM coz that's just path/ phyiz/ pharm put together. In fact half of Paeds is general do that in a day then the combo. U can be done with just a plain read in 3 weeks then watch the dvd's as u do the UW. Pysch u just did in form of B Sc.

what do u think of this plan ?? OBG is a fav subj of mine.. am thinkng of completing that first..its been long that i read that subj !! last during internship..
I too think Im and peds if done together....we can cover a lot.

hey MD, hws everything?? yesterday , i couldnt do anything as during daytime , i was out and at night, went for movie..."sunday" really a funny movie, enjoyed
nways , back to work, ya, i guess, mytime says it right....but as we already have started IM, then lets continue with that n finish that, but ofcourse, we should consider doing peds together, i checked the peds notes, its also having subtopics, so as right now we r doing infectious d's n in peds also the same chapter s there, so we ll definately do that after finishing IM infec d's, wot u say??????? like this, we would be able to finish both d boring (for me) sub together.....
obgyn.....its my favourite too (done residency in that)...n i know, its d easiest sub, if u really like it...so after doing this hectic sub, we ll go for obgyn, somewot relaxing n entertaining, right????? let me know wot do u think...
