Ok...procrastinating is not an option...it is a sin.

today, i will seriously study and study as "fast" as i can.

UW still about 1000 Qs to go. CCS not yet covered.

Exam schedule: Feb 20-21 in LA

Don't hit that tabbed browser on your mozilla. clock is ticking.

Materials:

UW up to Jan 24 only but will pay for extension.
Old Kaplan Step 3 books (2003)
Borrowed books: Fisher ethics, FA, Kaplan Qbook (2004)

Do you think this is possible?

  #3

hi i too am in the same boat .plzz write your daily progress. i find ur journal very inspiring

  #4

thanks starmoon. you're welcome to visit this anytime. we have to rev up.

i only finished 1 GI block yesterday and had to go to a family get-together.
geesh got only 31%. you have to do much better than that tech if you want your H1.
currently studying the answers. a few times too often, i changed my initially correct wise-guess to a wrong answer! Arggh!

just got an email from a friend who just took his step3. he said "IT WAS SO HARD!" he realized he concentrated too much reviewing in-patient cases and mgmt but there were more out-patient stuff. lots of peds, ortho, and ophtha than expected. and as i read from others which he confirmed too, lots of derm and fundoscopy images. but he said he had an easier time the next day especially the CCS, which all ended up early.

ok got to go and finishup the review so i can take another GI block. i already wasted precious time (3 hours to be exact) reading about the new macbookair. if i can only find a way to block all other non-mle-related internet sites....

......15 UW days left on my account.

yah I know AlexaE.

2nd GI block not done yesterday. Another interruption happened....Can't believe Christine's here in Manila. If you have spare time, relax and watch her hilarious vids. Check out happyslip.com.

Ok Tech, time to finish your backlog and catch up.

........14 days left for UW account

  #7

hi tech how many questions r u able to do everyday of uw

  #8

Hi generous,

I am able to finish one block on UW and that is 48 questions done in one hour. Since I did not do any review of lecture notes prior to UW subscription, the remainder of the day is left for taking down notes from the right/wrong answers and cross-referencing them with my step 3 review materials. Hence, slowpoke is the best adjective.

Since I still have about a thousand questions to go, I will be changing my strategy. 96 questions a day (2 blocks) will be my aim and just browse through the answers after.....without taking down notes as much as I can....if I can help it.

If you are just starting with your review and have at least 2 months to spare, I suggest you do 1 month review of notes then 1 month of UW.

Good luck!

slowing down again...

nephro finished. will move to neuro next.

will be reading CCS cases from UW at least 10 per day starting today.

  #10

Hey good luck. Some how I just can't find the motivation to do this. It was good reading your journal. Motivating. Do keep it up and do not slow down. Coming back up is so much harder.

  #11

Thanks Medocuk! I do read the other journals, such as yours, which is very inspiring. I wish I found this in Nov so I could have started at the same time as you guys instead of lounging around thinking maybe 1 serious month of studying would be enough! I like your avatar and it reminds me of my friend who keeps this poster in his room since our medschool days. It contains 5 different luxury/sports cars and has this caption "Justification for Higher Education". He is now a graduating surgery resident and has been matched to a reputable vascular fellowship program.

Going back...I was again interrupted from my review due to last minute arrangements to do a 2nd look visit which I initially planned to do after my exam on the 20th but decided finally to do it next week.

600 more questions in UW and 5 days left in my account. Ok no more note taking for now. Just eat and digest everything after answering the blocks, Tech. Or extend for 7 more days.....hmmmmm.

  #12

hi tech 99.................wish u luck
very inspiring journel

  #13

thanks guddu...likewise!

even slower the past 2 days...preparing my baggage for my flight on the 6th to the US. waaaahhh! torn between focusing on study time and spending quality family time. of course in the end, it's the latter that matters most!

for this, i had to extend my review.

so far, finished with hema/onc and rheuma questions...time to battle neuro (my weakness)

  #14

Geesh, it has been so many days since I wrote here. I did extend my account again and my exam date.

Currently on my last 2 weeks prior to exam.

Since my last post, I only finished ID and Neuro.....yes, i know...slower than a turtle.

Goal for this week: Finish the remaining UW questions.
Goal for next week: Kaplan Q bank - few questions and CCS

Goal for the day: UW Psyche, Derm, & Biostat

  #15

Good morning! Exercise time....treadmill then breakfast then resume the review.

Unfortunately, only derm was finished yesterday so I have to double up today and do Psyche, Biostat and ENT questions.

  #16

Ok target yesterday was incomplete. Just finished Biostat can you believe it. It was HARD! I had to dig up my step 1 notes for that.

ok today's target: 200 questions. 1 block per hour then allot 1 hour review. Total of 8 hours. Bye!

  #17

Good morning! Had a good sweat on the treadmill!

Was only able to finish 175Qs yesterday (Prev Med, Psyche finished and 2/3 of Peds)

Will finish Peds and OBGyn today and hopefully the ENT/Ophtha
For Friday: Surg and Misc + Acid-Base

for now, i invite you to visit http://www.thedontquitpoem.com/

  #18

Good morning! I didnt get to finish Peds yesterday. Will finish today and move over to OB-Gyn.

Step on it Tech!

  #19

what a great relief to go out last night...able to get rid of some of the stresses....watched 2 great bands at whiskey ago-go

so i am starting late today but somehow re-energized...able to log on to skyfm for background classical to enhance absorption of learning material (hopefully).

definitely need to finish yesterday's backlog and the other miscellaneous stuff.

have a great weekend guys!
