i have been reading this forum since step 1 , but i haven't been active here ,
just got my scores few days ago on 17 th , i thought it would be good to share my experience
got 243/99 on step 1
got 249/99 on step 2
i am happy the way GOD has helped me all this time , i thank HIM
and everybody who helped me.
i would be happy to help if anybody needs ,

plz tell us about your study plan and material and plz make stress on which topics from step 1 one must stress on it while he study for step 2 as iam going to take step 2 before step 1 and many did and many also got in the 99

sorry for replaying late as i am getting my hands on cs prepration too.
here is my experience of step 2
BOOKS
ONLY KAPLAN FOR ALL SUBJECTS
they are more than sufficient i think
many people advice different books , like cmdt , and many more , but i don't think i need its required if u have a genuine knowledge from past .
Q-BOOK
NOT DONE , thats your choice to go for it , i think i managed without it in both step 1nad 2
FIRST AID--GOOD FOR STEP 1
GOOD FOR STEP 2 , but i missed it too , do it if u have time.
Q BANK
i think USMLEWORLD is more than sufficient
i did it un- timed mode ,
but also tried to do some part of it in time , just to see if can do it in time, because time management is important on the final day
step 2 is a bit longer than step 1 , even if each block have 46 questions instead of 50.
i used uw as a learning tool , did it 100%
learned from my mistakes
read all the explanations , even the right ones
try making notes , it will help a lot later ,
i did it myself
or u can also write on sides of kaplan books , if u find the space sufficient
compare your score with others
try to improve
KAPLAN VIDEO LECTURES
i did only medicine and gynae , and they r recommended for u too
do all of it if u have time , but they are less important than books and uw .
they just help u capture whats in the books
uw finally covers everything in detail.
TIME
it took me 6 months , i am slow in things , adjust it to your needs , it maybe more or less for u
but don't go without preparation , cause u don't like to fail, and if u pass u only have 1 chance to succeed
METHOD
DID THE FIRST READING THOROUGHLY
that is important i think
did first revision then
did uw with second revision
then revised it all , kaplan and all the notes from uw and elsewhere
then did the USMLE CDS a day before exam.
then i went for it
EXAM DAY
MOST IMPORTANT
i tried to be smart , but i just reached in time, try to reach early to avoid the anxiety
try remain calm there , take your own food , its all in first aid , or just ask any of your friends who have given the exam.
what u need is apply that
i took break after every set
i am not allowed to share what was in exam , but i got audio-visual questions too.
so be prepared.

tell me if i missed somethings, and yeah as Moslem Doctor said , there are topics from step 1 too , so those taking step 1 ahead of step 2 be prepared
i thought hard about it , they cover all topics as they are all linked. micro, patho , anatomy, but they don't go in too much details .
i got only simple questions from step 1 , like identify the organism , and about drugs they like to ask the side effects ,u should know the pathology of diseases u cover in medicine , a little anatomy to answer ortho and trauma related questions ,, i guess if u do ur kaplan books and uw thoroughly , with full understanding u don't need to go further ,
and u cannot study all the step 1 books if u r giving step 2 , but someone told me, if u r too cautious , just read step 1 first aid , BUT ITS NOT MY ADVICE.

thanks , everybody for ur wishes again.
as far as UW , it took me around 45 days , to complete it , as i did it un - timed ,
i surely feel that one should use UW as a learning tool , and sure it can be used for ur own assessment too .
UW PREPARES YOU FOR THE EXAM VERY WELL , if u r comfortable with UW , u will face no problems in actual exam

thanks to all of you for your kind words
I think if we have time , we should listen to medicine and obs-gynae lectures from kaplan
nothing much new in them , its just they help to retain the book better .thats all they can help you.
rest of the subjects i found nothing interesting in lectures and i myself diodn't listened them .
as "safahoo" asked , yeah , MEDICINE IS BIG TIME IN EXAM , its all medicine there and then if there are other subjects .
well i guess we can't grade them it just depend on your exam , one may get more questions from paeds and other may get more from surgery , they were all evenly balanced in my exam , EXCEPT from MEDICINE which was all over
prepare all the subjects well , DON'T LOSE ON WEAK POINTS .
every subject matters .
