I really wish If I had completed all my STEPS grin

! But i just completed 2 steps ,one which i am not pretty sure of passing sad

..keeping my fingers crossed for CS

Step 1 requires a lot of memorization, and the only way to acheive that is TO REVISE all the materials that u finished with in short period of time, no one can read biochem today and think u can retain all that info 2 months later, its not possible! and it IS NORMAL! u have to revise materials every 2 weeks for reinforcement, the case would be differrent if u r in 2yr of med school coz u deal with the basic topics all the time, so slowing down on revision is not a big deal..But ppl like me who gave last exam on basic science 7 yrs ago requires to revise frequently..

3rd FEB 2008

Thought of starting with physio, but finally settled with PATHOLOGY, I did listen to goljan lectures a month ago, wrote down all the important points missing in the RR,while hearing his lectures..STARTED with SYSTEMIC path, finished with VASCULAR SYSTEM ,LYMPHATICS AND CARDIOLOGY.

5TH FEB 2008

Managed to read just 2 chapters from RR------> Respiratory system and Nephrology, All seemed to be familiar ,coz I had done my step2, so the reading went fast..

Tomorrow's target--------------> Will read the chapter on G.I and will try to read some pages on Endocrinology inshallah.........

10th and 11th FEB 2008

Tried to combine Neuroanatomy with neurology chapter in patho for better understanding..reading through Neuroanatomy chapters in HY and kaplan, some chapter are easier to understand in kaplan and some in HY, so trying to make my own notes combining the book so that next time when i revise i dont have to open both the books , and this will help to save a lot of time during revision..

Finished with chapters on spinal cord, meninges and ventricles and CSF..

13th and 14th FEB 2008

Finished reading Brain stem, Cerebellum,Visual Pathways and Cerebral cortex from Kaplan and learned all the addtional clinical correlations given in HY Neuroanatomy which is NOT given in KAPLAN Neuroanatomy

Liked Kaplan NA more than HY, most of them find it the other way around, but listening to the lectures + reading the kaplan notes together made the diff, and I loved the NA section in kaplan..I shld have read it when i did Neuro for step2 CK..

for 15TH FEB 2008

Will complete reading the neuro chapter in RR tomorrow..

17th and 18th FEB 2008

Finished with PATHOLOGY on 16th Feb.Revised RR on 17th and 18th FEB

FOR TODAY

Will start with Anatomy----->will listen to the first 10 lectures in the DVDs and compare the kaplan notes with HY gross anatomy.

alright aashi im going to join u in this journal.....

allrite ive reached the first read in pathology 200th page already heard goljan lectures.....had gone to college so starting studying in late evening will try to complete 50-60 pages till night when i update this post......

Aashi let me know if im going slow.

I read Kaplan for NA and histology and HY for GROSS, and FA for embryology. I went through the kaplan notes and listened to the DVDs simultaenously

19th AND 20th FEB 2008

Finished reading ANATOMY from kaplan and compared the kapln notes to HY gross anatomy..Loved reading Gross.A from HY.

Today's GOAL
Start with MICROBIOLOGY----------->Listen to lectures on General Microbio, Fungi and Parasitology and read the kap-lecture notes simultaenously ..As for Micro biology I am plannin on sticking to just Kaplan and FA

Alright UPDATE on my prep:-

20th and 21st FEB

Completed reading micro chapters mentioned above from kaplan and also finished reading chapters on VIROLOGY AND MICRO.GENETICS.

Todays TARGET:-

To read the chapter on BACTERIOLOGY and listen to lectures simultaenously.

23rd , 24rd and 25th FEB 2008

Finished with microbiology..Loved Kaplan micro notes..but wasnt happy with immuno notes..the notes were not correlating with lectures and it was not at all organized, the notes looked complicated and the lectures seemed easy to understand..anyways finished listening to those lectures and sticking only to kaplan for micro and immuno..

TODAY's Target:-

Starting with PHARMACOLOGY ..will listen to Autonomic nervous system and cardio lectures today and will read the kaplan notes together,while listening to the lectures..

Skipping pharmac lectures...found it long and boring, .I can understand the notes without listening to the lectures and incase i dont understand any topics, I will go back and listen to the lectures..till then will continue reading the kaplan notes and aim is to finish pharmacology by the 29th of FEB inshallah....
