Which of the following would be at highest risk as a result of posterior dislocation of sternoclavicular joint ?

a-IVC
b-SVC
c-Arch of Aorta
d-esophagus
e-external carotid artery
f-Heart

Right or left ? raised eyebrow cool

Right- SVC (b)

Left - Left brachiocephalic vein ( no option ) but this is too high , than Arch of Aorta ( c) , I guess to low.

Strange question. Highest risk of what....? Of damaging?

excellent !

the correct answer is the Trachea ...since SCJ dislocation is not common , but shows up sometimes as wrist injuries , esp.post.dislocations that can press the trachea causing respiratory difficulties .

other structures either they are posterior to trachea like SVC and Aorta , or behind the trachea such as esophagus , or it lies below the clavicle in case of heart .
