redddd Im sure you are all set! another 2 weeks of brushing up stuff and then you can confidently go take this test! I some how dont feel like relying on your NBME score as your preparation has been extensive and u did alot and maximum that one can do. It cant be that you are not ready.... Wish you the very best for the coming 2 weeks.

I have been going through a lot of stress since past 2 days. My stress is self induced. Fear of failing again. But I know If I don't overcome it it will take charge and end result is nothing, no productive, effective studying!
So I am exactly 1 week away from my exam and I have decided not to touch any new books or new questions any more I am just going to revise and brush through the old concepts. And while taking the exam I have to tell my myself that I will pass. Though I am doing USMLE step123 these days and they are very good, hoenstly very good questions based on concepts, but Standing where I am I have only one clear way. To take this exam on 22nd. If I take the exam after 22nd I will have to take up J1 visa irrespective of wether I pass or fail later. SO why not to take the plunge and atleast attempt to take this exam with courage and determination.
I think the state of mind makes a lot of difference wether you will do good or not. In my fisrt attempt I knew for sure that I will pass, so I took the exam very casuallly, but since it has jolted me already my target is to empower my mind so that I dont feel weak or underconfident during the exam time.
The reason I am not doing new questions now is because I have already done UW and kaplan Q bank and revising them will take alll the time, I really wish I cud have done USMLE step123 questions but unfortunately only 1 week left and I want to go confidently to my exam and rereading what I have laready done is better to strensgthen up rather than starting afresh with a new Q bank. I reallly desperately wwant to crush this exam this time. I just need to maintain my cool for next 5 days. And after that I really really hope I never have to retake this exam again.
Todays target to do ethics, psychi questions, my ethics sucks!!! I have laways gotten low points in ethics... I will go through Fischer questions. HOnestly I dont like swansons but have always heard that its a great book! I will try to have a look at it..

redddd I TOTALLY understand what you are going through...each word you said is 200% true and exactly what I feel.
I am coping up in the same manner as you are with the only difference that you have 1 week and I havent taken the date but I know after a week I will get my permit and will take a date in near future...so not much time for me either.
I agree that empowering your mind is the most important prep left. Last time and this time have 2 differences. last time your preparation might not be as strong as this time but you had alot of confidence...this time your preparation is far far better but a little lack of confidence...so if you just buck up on your confidence and train your mind to believe that you are going to feel easier this time and more confident as you at least know the ccs better and are better trained to do questions in timed mode ...then you are way too ready than last time.
also last time you must be afraid of other facators like how u are gonna handle the stress for 2 days ...how ure gonna manage the ccs...this time Im sure you are well prepared with that..u know the stress level of the exam and wont get overwhelmed with it...and surely it will appear hard as it always does to all examinees but you already know that to gain 2 more percentlies u dont have to make the exam feel 'easy'....just 2-3 more percentlies u need redddd...so let it look vague but be sure to attempt all quest with good guesses where needed....and dont get scared...this is the time to use ALL your powers!!
Remember what you said...human beain is VERY powerful...getting nervous will only drain your energy and block your powers...feel good...feel proud of ur prep...feel like a human...we cant know everything...but with what we know we should be able to make it provided we have a presence of mind during the exam...ok...so Goodluck! you know you have it all!!!

few more days to go.... Now have a residency position in hand, confirmed, Lawyer just called!!! I told him.. I need H1... Lets hope everything goes goooood... Really scared about the xeam, Visa depends on this only... Cant take J1... Will be screwed..
Revising UW and Fa these days.. Will do CCS again today n tomorrow.. Nikki how r things??

great redddd...I have geared up 20 times as compared to before...doing like 100-150q a day...havealot to do...will talk tolawer and all...yet dont know program...I guess after knowing program must speak to PC..and then she will let me know their lawer..no?...I have no idea how to go about it...I am ready to take this test by 10th 11th apreil...before that no way!
will start ccs today. will finish q bank in another 2-3 days..then will immidiately join UW. I suddenly jumped from bullockcart to express!

hahhahaha! that was funny!! So Ms Express. I'm glad you've geared up!! I'm struggling too with revision, realized while revising that I had forgotten so many things! Now I hope they stay in my mind for few more days... Good luck you will know in next 30mins... Good luck with that!

when is ur exam...22nd? I wish you all the best. you will do it! I also keep firgetting things...simple things sometimes like management of recurrent Otitis media versus Otitis media...management of throat infections..my ENT is not great...I had planned so much...derma radio EKG..pedia..immunizations..screenings in detail...rushing rushing now...
want to do UW and maybe fisher quest...nothing else possible..I wish my progarm lets me take exam in april 3rd week..i will surely do everything then..

Hi Redddd ,
wish you all the best for the upcoming exam , i am praying for you ... i understand the anxiety but trust me once you start with the exam ,anxiety will be all gone ... treat every question as your first one , the trick is to read the question carefully and making a sensible guess in your mind and then looking for it in the choices .. try to just read it once and if you are not sure or can short it to 2 choices ,make a guess and move on to next question ,try to manage time well..
mcq s are 75 % of the exam so ,try to ace it the first day and be confident ..
for ccs, read the first and the second page very very carefully ,i mean word by word and make a list of differential diagnosis right away and then go from there..
best would be if you write down those d/ds in the sheet they give you so that you dont miss any diagnostic work up ..

redddd!! I am sure you will not feel nervous after the first block as vandy said
and remember one thing that do not strain your mind on thinking that what if I dont do well i wont get H1 etc...think that Im just going to do my best ..no matter what the result will be. Have faith redddd with this feelling you will be taking exam as if in the first attempt...without that exta stress of 2nd one.
I will be in ur boat sooooooon...will read my own advise for myself then!!
