Kaplan notes are good , Trauma surgery is asked extensively . thats what I know.
Update: Finished ID test 1 66%, test2 62% UW 64% Left with 2 CCS cases... Cant sleep without finishing them tonight....
Ohhhhh gooooddddd, exam is 3 weeks away
I have to kill this step 3 monster this time.....

update: Done with ID.
Have to go somewhere today. Todays target More CCS. atleast 10 CCS and will start CNS from tomorrrow.

Good luck redddd and docnikki! I am inspired by your journal. I do have 2 weeks to go and for this week I plan to finish UW (scoring 40-50% only on timed unused Qs but I spend 3 hours reading the explanation everytime I do a block). I have 500 Qs to go. I plan to concentrate on CCS next week and do similar strategy as what you are doing.

just finished CCS and starting to do MCQs from Kaplan Q bank. I usually do Kaplan Q bank questions and UW questions in timed mode. Practising in timed mode has made me fast and I can screen through the question much better. I'm doing 100 questiosn on avg a day, but a few days there are only 50. Not very uniform but I try to give my best.
I'm left with 40% of Q bank and 12 more CCS.
Then I have to take NBME, next week.....
ohhh sounds scary

Finished with Kaplan Questions, Got 68%(Kaplan questions were tricky but I am glad I coukd sail through) Still left with kaplan notes for CNS

hey I am back. I wasted almost 2 days. Now Im back, And just 2 weeks left for the exam!!!!!!
todays target.
1. Finish questions of Preventive med and em med.
2. Do OBGYN CCS cases.

hi friends I am back, after a short break! Had gone for a weekend away! I really needed it.... Now back to the grind! I postponed my exam to March 22nd. NBME is in 4 days Working on OBGYN for today... I have stretched OBGYN for almost a week now. but I am really weak in this topic....
I am gonnna finish it once for alll 2day. Will be back tomorrow.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. I'm having scary nightmares these days. Whatever I study stilll I feel my heart pounding inside. 2nd time is always scary.... I don't want to fail again... I desperately neeed to pass this test.
Working on USMLE step 123 these days. they are good worth a try especially for me with a 2 nd attempt.
How are your studies coming along?

i understand redddd....I must say you are very very brave and you are not only going to pass but will pass with something in 90s...u will see.
I have been studying very patiently...telling my mind that i have no hurry...will take my time...unlike first attempt. That helped me to cope up with my anxiety and I covered some stuff. But now I have to fill up the form and send by monday...so now im facing the reality that i have to go take the test soon...thats very very anxiety giving. Today in the morning when I started to study it went well but the more I thought of the exam the more anxious i got...and then to focus i drank a cup of tea...and then I got more anxious...I lied down quitely and tried to forget about it all and imagined myself at home with my mother...meanwhile i counted my resp rate because since manay days Im realizing that I am breathing fast! it was 37/min. i counted for 3-4 consecutive minutes. I guess I am getting anxiety attacks. alprazolam always makes me feel good. I will try that.
So now I have to relax and study. Im almost 50% done with q bank..I had stopped in between and have restarted it. plan to finish it in a week or so.
redddd you were so right...I learned managing my time with the q bank. I hope to maintain my speed now.
Im going through WM...some important managements...not all. then i will have to do something for pedia....i really am very weak in that. Im ok in obgyn as kaplan wasa absolutely enough for step3. for pedia I think i will try swanson/WM/blue prints. lets see.
I plan to buy usmle steps 123 for mcqs and want to finish it my march end as from April 1st want to start with UW. when do u plaan to take UW redddd? and when is ur NBME?
sorry long post ...but writing down my worries on this forum really helps me with my anxiety.

Loved your post! you're a constant support. I dont know about scoring in 90's but I need anything above 75....
Hey I have UW in the form of images, If u want I can send you that. But I am not buying UW as I did it for the first attempt and I already know the answers, so no point in buying it yet again. USMLE step 123 itself is overwhelming it has 1600 questions and 100 CCS so I know I wont be able to finish it till my exam. SO no question of buying UW now. Ohhh god now exam is actually very near. just 11 days more.
I'm done with OBGYN, surgery in past 1 week and still left with ethics and psychiatry. There were lots of ethics questions in my first attempt. so I need to brush it up...
Tomorrow is the day for EKGs, X rays and derma pics.. I got 5-6 EKGS, and none of them made any sense to me in the exam.... Hopefull I master them 2 moro..

I plan to do Ethics from Fischers, I have a PDF format of some 100 pgs of ethics by Conrad fischer. but that will be tomorrow.
I am making notes of all the important questions from USMLE step 123. once I ma done I will send them to you as word file. Goood Luck and keep it up!

hi....
Took NBME today got 350 :-
I got 73 in my first attempt.. I spent 2 months studying more.
I did Kaplan Q bank(my avg score was 67%) I did UW(avg score 65%) I am still doing USMLE step123 avg score 54%.
But what shall I do now with this bad score in NBME. I mean What else can I study now? I feel broken. I cant even postpone this exam due to some circumstances.
I have practiced CCS atleast 4 times now, because my CCS performance was lower in the first attempt..
I don't know what to do now.... from where to begin?

redddd I understand how you feel. your NBME score must have been very dissapointing for you..thats the bad thing about NBME that it may not predict the real outcome but it can definitely break some one's moral. ur Q bank scores are impressive...how are u doing on usmle steps 123 ? another thing is that you did well on your mcq part in real exam and NBME only has mcqs..so thats not something that you must really be worried about. having done ccs 4 times must have definitely improved ur ccs skills and thats what you required. What was it that was lacking in your NBME performance...is it the problem management part you are confused about or are not thorough with therapies or is it the tesnsion anad stress that overtook your mind. If you feel confused about management of common problems I would suggest you to go through a good review book..like FA I think would be better that crush which is too superficial..and if its particular systems you know u find hard to manage I would suggest you to go over WM to make those concepts clear.
I know how you must be feelling and Im feelling very bad also. If there is another NBME form available the best thing I think will be to quickly go over FA or crush if you like that and take the other NBME within 5 days. Scoring well on that will definitly make u feel better. Though my feelling is that you are more than ready for the test. its just the NBME score that will affect your mind in the test...

Hey nikki thanks for being there once again.. My USMLE step123 scores are averaging 54%. They are concept based questions and I think Its not a bad idea to go through them. Well exam result will tell how exactly goood or bad are they but I think I have tried my best, now I will quickly brush up things in next 2 weeks and will try to mastter CCS, I think they can help me sail through this exam....
I have nothing else to opt for and you know why I need the result sooner. So Bottomline is I am going to try my best and Time will tell....
